bet365 Upgrades Mobile Casino with Playtech’s New Native App

bet365 is the first online gambling operator to debut Playtech’s latest mobile casino app, as revealed by the software provider on 15 September. Defined as a "native mobile casino application", Playtech’s announcement promised access would be available across all Android and Apple iOS devices.

When introducing the app, Playtech said "bet365 players can download and play games in seconds...giving them instant access". Ultimately, players who download the app are promised loading times that can reach three times the speed of the previous HTML5 casino.

Compatible with Android and iOS

After launching the app, Playtech revealed it had already attained a five-star rating following hundreds of early reviews. At present, the iOS version is downloadable via the App Store as an upgrade to the existing bet365 Casino app, while Android players can visit the casino in their web browser to get started.

To ensure consistent performance, Playtech has said games have been “optimised for all devices”, with dedicated casino lobbies tailored to Android and iOS operating systems. The app will also be flexible after being designed with a device-centric layout optimised for smoother navigation.

At launch, the new bet365 Casino app will share more than 100 games, including the newest Playtech slots and long-time favourites blackjack and roulette. The app will also give players a more personalised experience through the sharing of related promotions and the ability to group all of their favourite games in the same place for easier access.

Playtech and bet365 Perspectives

In terms of design, Playtech COO Shimon Akad shared research findings to justify the creation of a new native app rather than a responsive HTML5 mobile site. In an official statement, Akad said:

"[Research] suggests that 89% (vs. c.11% browser) of time on mobile is spent in-app, supporting the theory that native apps are what players want to use when gaming."

Akad also spoke of Playtech’s commitment to investing in native technologies, clearly convinced it can lead to stronger solutions for players and gambling operators alike. Going into greater detail, Akad used the term “instant and sticky native play functionality” to highlight the potential of native apps. bet365 CEO and Head of Gaming Christian HA Bogstrand added:

"We have worked closely with Playtech on the development of the new casino native app, ensuring we provide high-quality content with a much faster and improved gaming experience."

By working together, both parties have sought to deliver a highly functional app for players. Playtech’s latest achievement follows an August 2016 announcement where the software provider said it would return €150m [£127m] to investors. In response, the FTSE 250 company saw its share value rise 5% to reach a historic high of 944.50.

With Playtech still holding approximately €750m [£637m] in cash, the company is targeting possible acquisitions in gaming and financial trading. In 2016, Playtech paid a combined €162m [£138m] to complete deals for betting software specialist Best Gaming Technology and Swedish developer Quickspin.

What New Playtech Slots are Coming in 2016?

Throughout 2016, Playtech has continued to expand its gaming library, with the provider unveiling a brand new slot series entitled Age of the Gods. Since April, bet365 and other Playtech casinos have hosted King of Olympus, which features a networked progressive jackpot as the centrepiece.

Playtech expanded its Age of the Gods series with more new titles, including Furious Four, King of Olympus, Goddess of Wisdom and Prince of Olympus. Each of the slots can be found now at bet365 Casino and is linked to the Age of the Gods jackpot. Moving forward, Playtech’s next major release could be its planned DC slots collection.

After striking a February 2016 deal with Warner Bros, Playtech has been given the rights to produce video slots based on popular DC comics, spanning TV and film. When announcing the deal, Playtech said it would create slots based on the 1960s Batman TV series, Superman I, Superman II and Green Lantern, which starred Ryan Reynolds.

However, the biggest coup could be 2013’s Man of Steel, as the rebooted Superman film preceded the 2016 blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As of September 2016, Playtech has made no firm announcement on release dates for any of the upcoming DC slots, but CEO Mor Weizer did state in February’s reveal that the first games would be "delivered later this year".

When they do emerge, bet365 Casino is likely to have them from launch, given their close partnership with Playtech. To download the brand new casino app and experience the latest Playtech has to offer, visit bet365 today!
