Microgaming Secures Licence for Jurassic World-Themed Slot

Following the huge success of the Jurassic Park slot across multiple online casinos, Microgaming has finalised a deal with Universal Studios to reinvent its sequel, Jurassic World, for the slot gaming community.

The game, which Microgaming has confirmed will be made available via the Quickfire platform, is scheduled for release at some point this year.

The Predecessor

The two companies first came together for the development of the highly popular Jurassic Park slot title. The game, which is based on the 1993 hit movie of the same name, is available at a number of online casinos, including NetBet Casino. And now its successor, Jurassic World, which was released 22 years later, is due to be turned into a slot game by the development house.

The design for the original Jurassic Park slot incorporated video clips, animations and sounds from the film, which added excitement and authenticity to the gaming experience. In this latest collaboration between Microgaming and Universal Brand Development, we're likely to see a Jurassic World slot complete with high-octane action featuring stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard (and of course, the terrifying Indominus Rex and Velociraptor family).

Prehistoric Play

The global success of the Jurassic Park slot has no doubt paved the way for its sequel. Released in 2014, it was one of the first slot games to feature parallax scrolling, which opened up a wealth of new opportunities for players and software developers alike.

As is to be expected from a Microgaming release, the graphics and gameplay were some of the most innovative around, so players will no doubt be awaiting this latest release with eager anticipation. The traditional set-up associated with Microgaming's renowned development team – five reels, three rows and ‘243 ways to win’ technology – is likely to also be used for Jurassic World.

One of the most popular features of Jurassic Park is the T-Rex Alert bonus round, which delivers up to 35 extra symbols throughout six spins, giving players a multitude of new ways to earn additional payouts. The original game also features a five free spins round, and it will be interesting to see how the sequel will draw in new players with similarly exciting innovations and incentives.

Microgaming Movie Makeover

The software company has an established history of adapting silver screen releases for the slot gaming realm. A number of the world's most-played slot titles are fully licensed licensed movie or television adaptations, and Microgaming has been behind a number of these, with a roster that includes Game of Thrones and Battlestar Galactica, to name a couple.

Given the company's impressive track record for delivering exceptional tie-in games, hopes are high for this new adaptation of Jurassic World, which had the second-highest grossing opening weekend in history and is currently ranked the fourth biggest movie of all time.

And the good news is that with Universal Studios planning a follow-up with a rumoured 2018 release, there could be more slot game adaptations to look forward to in the not-too-distant future. To enjoy the current version slot in this series, head over to NetBet Casino now!
