Over the last few decades there have been several re-inventions of the Batman on the cinema screen. Several distinguished actors including Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and more recently, Ben Affleck have donned the famous black cape. However, none of these managed to capture the high jinks and camp bravado of the original 1960s Batman TV show.
The show originally casted Adam West as Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting alter ego, along with Burt Ward as his trusty sidekick Robin. The beloved pair of actors are currently enjoying a resurgence, providing their voices to the animated film Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. And as if that was not enough nostalgia, online casino software company Playtech has announced two brand new slots based on the hit TV show!
There have been online slots based on the Batman character before, be it from the films or comics, but Playtech is breaking new ground with this pair of new games, the first to be based on the original Batman TV show. The new online slots will feature classic images and signs from the show.
The gameplay will feature the comic-inspired visual sound effects like Whamm! and Kapow!, but also the camp soundtrack, as well as many lines of original dialogue lifted directly from the show. It will not just be Batman and Robin that players hear either, as two of his most notorious enemies are here to cause mayhem.
The first game, Batman & the Joker Jewels, sees Batman pitted against his clown-faced nemesis, a role relished by actor Cesar Romero. The progressive online slot has five reels and 25 paylines, and is accessible on both computer and mobile devices.
The game offers up to nine Joker Wilds at random from a normal spin. There is also a free game feature where Batman challenges the Joker, which translates to players being able to achieve a 5x multiplier on unlimited free spins, finishing when the Bat-Tastic Multiplier Meter runs out.
The second title is Batman & Catwoman Cash, which finds our Caped Crusader chasing his flirtatious feline foe. It’s a similar set-up to the first game, with five reels and 25 paylines. The Joker Wilds feature has been swapped, with Catwoman offering up to 25 free spins as a bonus.
The wild here is now Batman’s logo, while other objects from the show, like Batman’s utility belt and Catwoman’s whip, are found on the reels. As with the Joker Jewels, it is tied to one of four progressive jackpots, which any spin can potentially win.
These initial offerings from Playtech form part of an exclusive licensing deal with Warner Bros Consumer Products. This new partnership, formed in February 2016, allows the casino game provider access to many other DC Comic characters.
Playtech plan to release another four Batman-based slots over the course of 2017, leading up to the release of the Justice League film in November. Playtech’s progressive jackpot, the DC Super Heroes Jackpot, will also include future online slots such as Superman, Superman II, Man of Steel, and Green Lantern, which are also due to be released over the next year.
Playtech is one of the most well-known online slot developers in the world. It has established a brand that has customer and client services at its fore, while making sure its products are not only technically superior, but also fun and friendly to play.
The casino game provider is no stranger to the world of superheroes, having signed an agreement with DC Comics' rival, Marvel Studios, back in 2009. It created a series of very popular titles featuring heroes such as The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, and The Fantastic Four.
Speaking about Playtech’s plans with the DC Comic characters, the company’s CEO Shimon Akad said:
"I'm extremely proud of our collaboration between Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Playtech’s innovative development studios. The Batman Classic TV Series games, that will rapidly be followed by Superman I, Superman II, and Man of Steel and a whole host of other DC Super Hero branded games, are a premium addition to our best-performing range of the industry's leading progressive jackpot slot content and will provide our licensees and DC Super Hero fans with the ultimate Batman gaming experience."
The two games are still being rolled out, but in the meantime, you can enjoy some of Playtech’s other comic book-inspired slots, such as Iron Man 3, at Paddy Power Casino. If you join now, Paddy Power Casino is offering a 100% First Deposit Bonus of up to an amazing £500. Plus, as a little extra, they will add £10 on top of that too. Surely even billionaire Bruce Wayne would take up that offer!
