William Hill Sets Personal Record, Hands Out £2.5m Slots Jackpot

A William Hill Casino player, one enjoying her time playing in William Hill's Vegas section, struck lucky this Valentine’s Day when she won a £2.5 million jackpot on one of the site's progressive slots. It was a record-breaking figure for the multi-channel gambling operator, and the winner, a single mother from one of Scotland's western islands, even made it into the national news.

Disney Holiday Planned

The winner has requested that her identity remain hidden, but William Hill was able to reveal that she is 40 years old and works in a nearby school on her island. She did, however, share the first thing that she wants spend her winnings on – a trip to Disney World in Florida with her seven-year-old son.

The stunned mother explained to William Hill that the experience “is all still so surreal” and that she was just “hoping to win a couple of quid”. And despite her incredible jackpot win, she hasn't lost sight of day-to-day life, adding that “no matter how much money you have, you still have to wash the dishes”.

In fact, she is no stranger to winning large sums of money, having won £30,000 from William Hill three months earlier.

The Festival of Lights

Her latest win came while playing a progressive jackpot game called Festival of Lights, which was created by software developer Blueprint Gaming. Basing the design of the game around the ancient Hindu festival of Diwali (known in English as the Festival of Lights), Blueprint incorporated a progressive jackpot component, meaning that the prize money can accumulate for more than a year before it's won. Up until this latest win, the jackpot had increased over 18 months to over £2.5 million.

Players of the Festival of Lights game will encounter a five-reel slot with 20 places for symbols to land on the screen after every spin. This expanded design includes 40 paylines, offering players hundreds of winning combinations to unlock.

Win the Jackpot

The progressive jackpot is the slot’s focal point, as it rolls over with every spin until someone wins. To be in with a chance of the jackpot, gamers need to be able to spell VEGAS using the in-game symbols. Anyone who does spell VEGAS will trigger the Vegas Millions round. At this point, there is a tense wait while the player spins a wheel to determine which of the five progressive jackpots they receive. Festival of Lights can also be rewarding for players who don’t make it to the progressive jackpot round, however.

Unlock Free Spins

The slot game also includes a special round called Festival Free Spins, in which five free spins are unlocked by a combination of three or more bonus symbols. A player will receive one, two or three Super Festival Spins for getting three, four or five bonus symbols, respectively. This is an ideal time to build winnings because the slot pays out a guaranteed scatter value on every Super Festival Spin.

Visit William Hill Casino today to experience Festival of Lights and many more progressive slot games.
