888poker has revealed it will partner with the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit to run online satellites ahead of an upcoming tournament in Brazil. From now until 20 October 2016, players can enter satellites on the 888poker Network for the chance to play their way into the main tournament.
Time is ticking away to enter the online poker tournaments, with WSOP Brazil starting on 26 October and running until 2 November 2016. For anyone who has the skills, the qualifier buy-ins will start from just £0.01.
Entrants can find the qualifiers by accessing 888poker’s 'Tournaments' tab and then choosing 'Live Events'. The schedule will feature numerous satellites until the event closes, but it’s also possible for players to speed up their progress. To do this, they can register directly for the qualifiers and pay for a seat that will put them one satellite away from the main event.
The prize for winning a main event qualifier will be a £1,065 seat for the centrepiece tournament at WSOP Brazil 2016. At the main event itself, players will compete for a guaranteed £820,000 prize pool along with a coveted WSOP gold ring. The tournament is marked as #11A Main Event on the schedule, with qualifying players entering one of three starting flights from 28 to 30 October.
The main event will then progress until its dramatic conclusion on 2 November. WSOP Brazil’s eight-day schedule will feature 13 other tournaments covering an array of formats and poker games. Some of the highlights include Brazilian Storm, Super High Roller, Giant Omaha, Extra Life, Hero Deep Stack and Crazy 888.
This will be the second year that the WSOP Circuit operates on the global stage, taking in 16 locations across the world. For Brazil, this is the country’s first time hosting the circuit, with the event scheduled to run in the Transamerica Expo Center, situated in São Paulo.
WSOP Brazil’s official representative, Beto Lima, spoke of his delight at hosting the event and pointed to his country’s growing love of the game: "Poker is growing up step-by-step in Brazil, but at an incredible speed." In fact, three of the 888poker ambassadors attending the event are Brazilian poker players, so there’s going to be a real sense of connection for the local fans who attend.
Bruno Politano is arguably the most skilled of the three, given his fourth-place ranking on Brazil’s all-time money list. Just outside of the top five is sixth-placed Nicolau Villa-Lobos, while Bruno Pereira Lima Kawauti holds ninth in the lead-up to the event.
For added star power, 888poker will have a celebrity ambassador for the first time. In a football-obsessed land, the operator has wisely turned to a talented, former Brazilian player in Denílson, whose accolades include a 2002 World Cup winner’s medal.
WSOP is continuing raise its international profile, having attracted a record 107,833 players from 107 countries to participate in the 47th Las Vegas event. Among the participants were 970 Brazilian players competing for a share of the £181m prize money.
The poker tournament organiser will also have an eye on Europe in October, with a circuit event running in the Czech Republic. Starting on 26 October, King’s Casino in Rozvadov will host 42 poker tournaments until the event finishes on 14 November 2016.
Coincidentally, 888poker also has the exclusive rights to host online satellite qualifiers for the Czech Republic event. The buy-ins start from just £0.01, but will let players compete for one of two prize packages:
888poker is giving new players the added perk of entering the WSOP Brazil online satellites on top of claiming the welcome package. This means players can also claim a £20 no deposit bonus and double their first deposit up to £400.
Funds from the deposit bonus will then be released in $10 portions for every ten bonus points earned through playing online poker or casino games. The welcome package includes yet more perks, with players given multiple free tickets to enter three online poker tournaments:
