Grosvenor Poker Crowns First WSOP Colossus II Las Vegas Package Winner

The 2016 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is on the horizon. One player who'll be stepping into the spotlight to compete for a coveted bracelet this summer is a Grosvenor qualifier known simply as 'Troy'. Originally from Bournemouth, but currently studying psychology at the University of Hertfordshire, 23-year-old student Troy landed the dream trip to Vegas without really knowing what he was letting himself in for.

After anteing up on Grosvenor Poker for his regular round of £1 tournaments, the student player stumbled upon the operator's £5 Las Vegas feeder satellites. Offering an affordable stepping stone to the WSOP's $565 Colossus II, with its $7 million guaranteed prizepool, the £5 feeder allowed Troy to take part in a £30 satellite before competing in the £220 Las Vegas final on Grosvenor Poker.

'Troy' Battles His Way to Vegas

Sitting down with a handful of qualifiers and direct entrants, Troy managed to glide through the field using a combination of logical deduction and psychological analysis to win an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas, worth £2,500.

In total, Grosvenor Poker is giving away seven £2,500 packages to Sin City for the start of the WSOP Colossus II on 2nd June 2016. Although Troy's win means there's only six packages left, satellites will run until the close of May, with buy-ins starting from a paltry £0.25.

For less than it costs to buy a packet of Walkers crisps, all Grosvenor Poker players can win a bumper Vegas package that includes:

  • free entry to the WSOP Colossus II
  • 5 nights' accommodation at The Linq Hotel, Las Vegas
  • VIP host and exclusive Grosvenor Poker events during your stay
  • welcome drinks reception for all qualifiers
  • $2,000 (£1,400 or €1,700) for travel costs and spending money

On top of the six packages for the Colossus II, Grosvenor Poker will be offering satellites to the WSOP Main Event. Worth £10,000 and providing entry to the $10,000 tournament as well as accommodation and spending money, the satellites will start on 2nd May and run until 29th May when at least one player will win their way to the WSOP's Big Dance.

Climb the Colossus Tower for Free

If all that wasn't enough, Grosvenor Poker will also be offering a £5,000 freeroll, which will take place on 13th April. For earning 200 points (10 points per £1 staked) before 13th April, players will receive entry into the freeroll (3,000 starting chips) and for every 200 points they accrue above this total they'll get an additional 200 starting chips.

The top 27 players in the freeroll will all win WSOP satellite tokens worth varying amounts, but for those with their eyes on the top prize, a £2,500 Vegas package for the Colossus will be up for grabs.

As for the first WSOP qualifier, Troy was more surprised than anyone that he won a package, but he'll be out to make the most of his first trip to Las Vegas this summer:

"I can't quite believe I won at all, let alone for free! I've never been to Vegas, but it will be one to tick off the bucket list!" he commented.
