Racehour Podcast: Is Altior Left Footed?

Racehour Podcast: Is Altior Left Footed?

After a treat for the senses and punters last week with the resumption of top quality horse racing the #racehour panel pick up the pace as Cheltenham Festival winning jockey Paddy Aspell, the returning Stephen Cass, and regulars Diarmuid Nolan and host Dean Ryan run the rule over the eyecatchers from Ascot with a view on the Cheltenham betting markets.

LISTEN:

Cyrname the top rated horse in training?

Up for discussion are the now highest rated horse in Jumps Racing, Cyrname who stole the show in the Betfair Ascot Chase and Clan Des Obeaux who now sits at the top with Presenting Percy of a crowded Gold Cup betting market.

Al Dancer romped to victory in the Betfair Hurdle booking a spot in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle which led to quotes from connections that he could be the best horse ever in the Nigel Twiston-Davies’ yard!

Monalee controlled affairs in the Red Mills Chase and sets a fair standard for the Ryanair Chase where the betting market and the principles are reviewed in full of part three of this week’s Podcast.

Nicky Henderson, Willie Mullins & Gordon Elliott Stable Tours February 2019:

Weekend Racing Preview

Racing this weekend takes place at Kempton, Fairyhouse and Newcastle across the TV channels and with the chance to catch another glimpse of Angels Breath in the Dovecote Hurdle there will be more shake ups to the Festival Betting markets on the way.

The panel discuss their best bets through the cards including a bit of a #racehour podcast charge for Tom George’s chaser Bags Groove who should take his chance in the Pendil Novices’ Chase at 1.50pm on Saturday afternoon – the assumption is the 3/1 will not last between recording and race time!

Not so much confidence in landing the winner of the Eider Chase at Newcastle, a race Paddy Aspell has ridden in before and called a “gruelling test” but the panel dissect the top of the market and seem to have stumbled on to some early race value.

No surprise that Presenting Percy comes in for debate around a possible appearance in the BobbyJo Chase at Fairyhouse but will trainer Pat Kelly let him take his chance this close to the Cheltenham Races in March? Only he knows for sure.

Altior jumping issues?

Penultimately, the podcast panel tackle Altior and his tendency to jump left and change his lead leg approaching a fence, is this something to be concerned about or is the great equine monster just dossing and toying with inferior opposition?

A look at the Ryanair Chase

Then finally it’s off for a spin through the Ryanair Chase and the will he or won’t he run debate on Min for Willie Mullins. If he does then is he going to win and if he doesn’t who will pick up the pieces? Un De Sceaux would surely be the most popular winner of this years race but he is now at the ripe old age of 11!
