Eurovision Betting Odds: 5 Tips For The Final Of The 2022 Song Contest
2022 Eurovision Tips:
- Sweden To Win Jury Vote - 11/2 with William Hill
- E/W Netherlands Without Ukraine - 50/1 with Bet365 (3 places)
- Germany To Beat Switzerland - 7/4 with Bet365
- Czech Republic To Finish Last - 50/1 with Bet365
Saturday night’s Eurovision final extravaganza has a different feel this year. No other event unites Europe quite like Eurovision, and this year the continent will unite behind a song.
The Ukrainian entry is not the best in the contest, but the sweep of support by televoters will likely still project The Kalush Orchestra to glory – and hopefully a small boost for the nation’s people – and their favouritism is reflected in the Eurovision betting.
In terms of the competition mechanics, juries and televoters each account for 50% of the voting. Countries perform in the jury show on Friday night, so taking to the stage on Saturday half the result is already in place. Keep an eye on any betting moves late on Friday night.
The presence of the Ukrainian entry complicates the event for betting purposes, and looking outside the outright market is the way to play. In any other year Sweden would be a deserving winner as Cornelia Jakobs brings a mesmeric pop performance reminiscent of Bonny Tyler in her heyday.
With a good position in stall 20, Jakobs’ polished performance has a great chance of topping the jury vote, and is a strong selection to do so. They are priced around 11/2 on most betting sites.
Also worth a tickle in the outright market is Netherlands at 50/1 without Ukraine. Bet365 are paying three places. The Dutch bring a melodic contemporary Dutch language number that should do very well with juries. It feels like the kind of song that will resonate with Nordic and Western countries so hopefully picks up a raft of televote points too.
Serbia have a fantastic entry with a great stage show and have a beautiful draw in slot 24 of 25. They are 19/10 with William Hill in the top Balkan market in what looks an effective match bet with Greece. The Greek entry is one of many ballads and may not stand out from a poorer draw.
The camera work is fantastic and it could be a sleeper for a lot of jury points. I’m not recommending any major bets but 50/1 top Nordic is too big; it should be at least half those odds and is the one to capitalise should the Swedes turn out to be a turnip.
Keep an eye here for a full grand final preview on Friday and good luck with your bets throughout the week.
