IGT and California Lottery Extend Content Partnership Deal

IGT and California Lottery Extend Content Partnership Deal

One of the most innovative iGaming operators around, International Game Technology (IGT), has announced that it will be extending its supply deal with the Californian State Lottery – also known as the California Lottery – until 2026. The contracts have been signed by the IGT Global Solutions Corporation in a move that is designed to continue the success of the West Coast lottery game!

Breaking Down the Deal

At the time of writing, the California Lottery is the second largest in the US based on sales revenue alone. The new deal between the two organisations is an extension of the existing supply contract, although a new feature has been added that will enhance the partnership between the pair.

IGT will supply the California Lottery with some 19,000 gaming terminals, the Altura GT1200 Flex retailer machine, which looks set to increase sales figures yet further. These consoles have the OpenRetail software that allows various devices within a single retailer to use the same single terminal application.

The end goal is that stores can sell more lottery tickets in a shorter timeframe, which is hugely important in today’s ‘everything now’ society. The senior vice president of IGT, Jay Gendron, said of the deal:

"IGT and the California Lottery have enjoyed a long and successful partnership for more than three decades. We have assisted the Lottery in increasing sales and funds for education exponentially over the past several years, including in its most recent audited fiscal year with lottery sales of $6.276bn, and $1.587bn returned to education... We look forward to using this opportunity to further strengthen our partnership with the California Lottery and its retailers through the deployment of leading-edge solutions."

Land of the Free (and Huge Lotto Jackpots)

The proliferation of online lottery sites offering punters from across the globe access to the California Lottery and many more besides, no matter where they are based, has opened countless doors for players and the lottery providers themselves. It is perhaps no surprise to see many draws on US soil increasing in popularity as a result.

America boasts the majority of the highest jackpots ever paid out in a single game. The record was smashed again early last year, when the Powerball jackpot of a handsome $1.6 billion was split three ways, and that came hot on the heels of the previous landmark figure set by the Mega Millions draw in 2012 at $656 million. It’s no wonder that lottery fans from Australia to Zanzibar want to play these huge American draws.

West Coast Lottery, Worldwide Appeal

Sites like MultiLotto and Lottosend specialise in selling tickets to global lotteries on a localised level, so that no matter where you are you can get stuck into the Mega Millions, Powerball, elGordo or any other of the major draws. The California Lottery organisation introduced the California SuperLotto Plus in the year 2000.

The SupperLotto Plus variant replaced the California Super Lotto that had been running for the previous 14 years. The draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 7.45pm (UTC), and along with making millionaires every week, the Californian State Lottery also ploughs some of its revenue back into public education in the state.

Enjoy the California Lottery Yourself

If you’re considering playing the California SuperLotto Plus online, then you’ll be pleased to hear the rules are simple to follow. All you have to do is pick five main numbers between 1 and 47, plus a Mega number from within the range of 1 to 27. To land the jackpot, punters must match all 5 main game numbers plus the Mega ball.

Worth noting, there are eight other ways in which to land a pay-out ranging from a single dollar right through to several thousand. Those prizes come in various combinations – matching the Mega number on its own, matching two main game balls and the Mega number, matching four main game numbers alone etc.

Anyone who enters the California SuperLotto Plus also has a chance to win a consolation prize courtesy of the SuperLotto Plus 2nd Chance draw. As the name implies, all entrants into the main draw are given a ticket to this supplementary lotto, with five $15,000 prizes up for grabs.

The California SuperLotto Plus is by no means as lucrative as Mega Millions or the Powerball, but the jackpot does roll over from week to week when it isn’t won. Starting at $7 million, the top prize often exceeds $50 million with a record of $193 million set back in 2002 – so head to TheLotter to play online today!
