Ladbrokes Predicts Premier League Based on Betting Per Team

Ladbrokes Predicts Premier League Based on Betting Per Team

With two weeks until the season, Ladbrokes announced their predicted Premier League table based on the percentage of bets taken. Keeping in mind this is simply by percentage of bets taken, the results make for quite the amusing read. Apparently, everyone is really high on Liverpool after last year’s wonder run to the Champions league Final (where they lost to Real Madrid).

A Chaotic Prediction

There’s a handful of interesting talking points here beyond Liverpool winning the League title, but The Reds winning it all isn’t overly outlandish if the 17/18 Golden Boot winner Mohammad Salah can continue his form from last season. Signing midfield destroyer Fabinho and star keeper Alisson won’t hurt either.

Working from top to bottom, Arsenal finishing second is an interesting point, given the fact the Gunners are breaking in a new manager in Unai Emery, as well as numerous transfers in and out of the club (notably the departure of longtime midfielder Jack Wilshere). Apparently Gooners are high on Emery to turn the ship around.

Manchester City sitting at fourth is a particularly amusing piece, seeing how City shattered record after record to win the Premier League last year by 19 points. Red Devil fans will appreciate sitting on top of most of their rivals, but likely vexed to be sitting third.

Meanwhile, West Ham and Wolverhampton fans will be happy simply to be as far up the table as they are. West Ham sits in Europa League position while Wolves sit in Europa playoff position. Between the two sit Tottenham, and Chelsea is slated to miss out on Europe entirely to the delight of Arsenal fans.

Biggest losers here appear to be Burnley. Despite only losing Scott Arfield during the transfer window (so far), punters don’t like The Clarets and have them dropped just about relegation zone in 15th after a wonderful 17/18 season saw them finish in 7th place and in a Europa League playoff.

Brighton & Hove’s foray into the EPL is set to end, as they’re slated to drop to the Championship with Watford and Bournemouth.

Ladbrokes Odds on 18/19 EPL Season

All the above is based on betting from Ladbrokes’ odds for the upcoming Premier League season. Comparing the Ladbrokes predictions to the actual odds reveals a few things, as well as throwing the bottom half of the table into utter chaos.

Man City’s slide down bet percentage can likely be attributed to their heavy odds as favourites to repeat. The upper half of the table is as follows:

  1. Manchester City: 8/11
  2. Liverpool: 4/1
  3. Manchester United: 13/2
  4. Chelsea: 12/1
  5. Tottenham: 14/1
  6. Arsenal: 25/1
  7. Wolves: 100/1
  8. Everton: 200/1
  9. Leicester: 200/1
  10. West Ham: 200/1

Clearly only five real favorites to win the title, as all teams after Arsenal are fair longshots to win. Liverpool fans seem to think their 4/1 odds to win the title are excellent, seeing that Liverpool has the heaviest percentage of bets. Arsenal fans seem to think similarly.

Relegation odds are far more open, with Cardiff the unfortunate favorite to get relegated (despite an enticing opening week line). The relegations odds are as follows:

  1. Cardiff: 8/13
  2. Huddersfield: 6/5
  3. Fulham: 13/8
  4. Watford: 15/8
  5. Brighton: 2/1
  6. Burnley: 7/2
  7. Bournemouth: 9/2
  8. Newcastle: 5/1
  9. Crystal Palace: 6/1
  10. West Ham: 6/1
  11. Southampton: 7/1
  12. Wolves: 7/1
  13. Leicester: 14/1

An interesting thing: Wolves find themselves with better odds to win the Premier League and get relegated as Leicester City. Also to note, top football bookmakers and punters alike are calling Burnley’s 17/18 campaign a fluke, sitting Burnley consistently in 15th.
