Odds Swing In Favour Of Spurs As Mourinho Joins Tottenham

Jose Mourinho is the new Tottenham manager and their Premier League top-four odds and other such markets are already shifting in their favour.
Former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the Spurs helm less than 24 hours on from the Argentine being sacked.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy decided to act with the north London club lying 14th in the Premier League table.
And bookmakers across the country have begun slashing their odds on Spurs achieving something of note this season.
Spurs Odds Tumble With Mourinho
Online bookies Royal Panda price Spurs at 11/4 to secure a Champions League spot next season, having seen those odds come in from 4/1 when Pochettino was axed.
The reaction to Mourinho’s appointment has been swift and bookmakers across the board seem more confident in the ex-Real Madrid boss steering Spurs to a top-four finish compared to Pochettino.
The remit for Mourinho over the rest of the season will be to secure that top-four spot and get through the Champions League group stage, the latter of which Spurs are on course to achieve.
Champions League Odds Cut Too
Yet how far can Tottenham now go in Europe’s elite club competition? Last season, Spurs reached the Champions League final before losing to Liverpool — and bookmakers are growing in confidence that they can go one step further with Mourinho in charge.
Paddy Power reacted to Mourinho’s appointment by crunching Spurs’ odds on winning the Champions League from 33/1 to 25/1.
They are now the eighth-favourites to win the tournament — a long way off the likes of Manchester City, PSG and Liverpool but still seemingly heading in the right direction.
Mourinho has won trophies wherever he’s managed and Spurs — who are regularly mocked by opposing fans for having claimed just two League Cups since 1991 — have a sure-fire winner here.
Granted, the Portuguese may not be expected to steer Spurs to Premier League glory in his first full season in charge. But they have leapt from 10/1 to 8/1 with Betway to win the FA Cup this term.
Emery Favourite To Be Sacked Next
As Spurs fans adjust to the notion of Mourinho being in charge of Pochettino’s team, they may take heart in the fact rivals Arsenal are now the favourites to axe their boss next.
Unai Emery moved in from 5/1 with BetVictor to a new price of 2/1 to be the next manager sacked. Some bookmakers even had Emery out at 10/1 before Pochettino was axed.
Tottenham face West Ham in Mourinho’s first game in charge on Saturday, while a clash at Manchester United is set for early December.
Mourinho will also face another former club in Chelsea before the year is out, at which point Levy will expect Spurs’ league position to have greatly improved.
