One of the latest items on the rumour mill is that Richarlison wants out of Everton, and betting sites believe there are several contenders to sign him.

The unthinkable did not come to pass at Goodison Park last term, as Frank Lampard’s side secured their Premier League status with a game to spare.

Relegation would have been a disaster for a club with European aspirations, but while they did not go down to the Championship this could still be a difficult summer for the Toffees.

Everton have spent a huge amount of money for little return in recent years. Rafael Benitez was therefore given a tiny budget to work with 12 months ago, and Lampard is unlikely to be heavily backed this time around.

In fact, the club may need to cash in on at least one of their star players in order to balance the books: reports suggest Richarlison or Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be moved on for the greater good.

If it is the Brazil international who seeks pastures new, where might he end up? Let’s assess some of the contenders to sign him.

Tottenham Lead Race For Premier League-Proven Forward

For much of Daniel Levy’s chairmanship, Tottenham’s recruitment has focused on landing talented players who have not yet entered their peak years.

Resale value has been an important factor in the club’s signings, while wage constraints have made it difficult for Spurs to compete with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United in the transfer market.

That approach appears to have shifted this summer. Antonio Conte is one of the best managers in the world, but he is unlikely to stick around for too long in north London.

Tottenham have decided to back the Italian by targeting players who can immediately contribute to a team that looks set to challenge for silverware next term.

Richarlison, like Yves Bissouma and Ivan Perisic, would fit the bill. He is a proven Premier League forward who has reached double figures for goals in three of his last four seasons with Everton.

Useful, too, is his versatility: the Brazilian could deputise for Harry Kane through the middle if the England captain is injured or needs a rest, but he is also comfortable on the flank.

Spurs are evens with football betting sites to add Richarlison to their squad before the start of September.

Chelsea Could Rival Spurs For Brazilian’s Signature

Chelsea are the second-favourites to sign the former Watford man and odds of 5/2 suggest it is a genuine possibility that he ends up at Stamford Bridge.

With Romelu Lukaku on his way back to Inter after a hugely disappointing single season back at Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel will be on the lookout for a replacement.

Raheem Sterling may well be on his way to west London, but it would not be a surprise if Chelsea sought another body to join their forward line.

Richarlison’s versatility would be an asset for them too, while the 25-year-old would probably be content to share minutes with other forwards if he was joining a club of Chelsea’s stature.

The big question mark is whether the Blues would be ready to spend £50m on a player who is not proven at Champions League level – although that doubt applies to Tottenham too.

Lure Of Real Madrid Would Prove Irresistible If Offer Arrived

Real Madrid are the most successful side in Europe and a move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu would surely be Richarlison’s preference were an offer to arrive.

He would also be able to link up with several international team-mates in the Spanish capital, including Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao, Casemiro and Rodrygo.

The problem for Richarlison is that there has been little suggestion that Madrid are readying a bid, hence a price of 10/1 with Betfair

Some felt los Blancos would panic after failing to land Kylian Mbappe, but their Champions League triumph in May has understandably made the club realise that there is no need to be hasty and splurge hundreds of millions on attacking alternatives just for the sake of it.

Madrid will eventually need to replace Karim Benzema, but when that time comes they would almost certainly seek a bigger name than Richarlison.

Newcastle And Manchester United Currently Outsiders

Having finished comfortably in mid-table last term, Newcastle will be looking to take the next step in 2022/23. European qualification will be their aim, but to finish in the top seven Eddie Howe will need to significantly strengthen his squad.

Richarlison is the type of player Newcastle would love to sign, but odds of 14/1 indicate how tough it will be for them to convince the Brazilian to move to St James’ Park.

At 25, Richarlison will want to join a club competing in the Champions League and one which is ready to challenge for trophies immediately. Newcastle are not there yet.

Manchester United would be a more enticing option despite their recent struggles, but Erik ten Hag’s side do not appear to be in for Richarlison – hence a price of 16/1.

PSG, Arsenal And Aston Villa All Unlikely Destinations

Paris Saint-Germain are available at 20/1 with Paddy Power and had Mbappe opted to join Madrid, the French giants would be on the lookout for a new attacker this summer.

But the World Cup winner’s decision to stay put means that incoming manager Christoph Galtier will prioritise other areas of his squad for strengthening.

At 20/1, both Arsenal and Aston Villa are seen as other unlikely destinations. The former are working hard on a deal to sign Gabriel Jesus and Raphinha, who would both cost a similar amount to Richarlison; it is not realistic to expect the Gunners to sign all three players.

Meanwhile Villa are an ambitious club but, like Newcastle, they cannot offer the 25-year-old what he wants right now.
