It looks increasingly likely that the Champions League final was Sadio Mane’s last game for Liverpool, with media reports and betting sites expecting him to move on this summer.

The Senegal international enjoyed another tremendous season at Anfield, even if it did end in disappointment as Jurgen Klopp’s side were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid at the Stade de France and also missed out on the Premier League title.

Mane only has a year left on his Liverpool contract, and he revealed before the final that he would speak about his future once his team’s campaign had concluded.

It is easy to see why he might want a new challenge after six years at Liverpool - he is 30 years old now, and his next deal will probably be the last big one he gets.

Mane has spent most of his professional life in England; the opportunity to try his hand elsewhere is no doubt appealing at this stage of his career.

So, where might the forward end up? Let’s take a look at the odds and then examine the options.

Bayern Munich The Odds-On Favourites To Land Mane

Football betting sites believe Bayern Munich are in pole position to land Mane. They have already had two bids turned down by Liverpool and are reportedly preparing to offer him a three-year deal should the Reds eventually cave in.

Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern's sporting director, is said to have met with Mane’s agent to discuss terms, and the rumoured £35-40m price tag is within reach for the German champions.

It is no surprise that Bayern are keen on Mane. Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski both face uncertain futures and could leave the Allianz Arena either this summer or next. Mane has proven himself at the highest level and would be a good fit for a side managed by Julian Nagelsmann.

Taking all that into consideration, it is no surprise that Bayern are the 1/10 favourites. The only doubt, perhaps, surrounds the Bundesliga itself.

Mane is used to an ultra-competitive environment where the title does not come easily, as his solitary Premier League winner’s medal demonstrates.

Bayern have won 10 leagues in a row in Germany, which is not a particularly challenging place for those who ply their trade for the Bavarian behemoth.

Real Madrid Could Be On The Lookout For An Attacker

After winning the La Liga title at a canter, los Blancos proceeded to lift the Champions League trophy for a record-extending 14th time last month.

It is not just that Madrid have won more European Cups than any other team; it is that they now have twice the number of AC Milan in second place. Right now, Madrid are the kings of the continent.

Yet if on-pitch events have gone their way of late, the same cannot be said for the transfer market.

Bet £20 And Get It Back As Cash If It Loses

Madrid looked set to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer this summer, only for the France international to go back on his word and sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid, who are 14/1 in this market with Paddy Power, may therefore look elsewhere for a new forward. Despite his advancing years, Mane would be a fine choice.

The only possible issue is positional: Madrid already have nailed-on starters on the left (Vinicius Junior) and through the middle (Karim Benzema), and the Senegalese is not as effective on the right wing.

Barcelona Looking To Strengthen Squad For Title Tilt

Xavi Hernandez

Barcelona are just below their Clasico rivals at 20/1 with Coral. Xavi Hernandez will be looking for reinforcements in several areas as he seeks to challenge Madrid for the title next term.

The former Barca captain once suggested that Mane would not be a natural fit for the Blaugrana, but he also said the same thing about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and did not hesitate to sign him in January.

Barcelona’s financial situations remains complicated though, with reports in the press suggesting they will need to sell players before they can buy

A fee of £30m is not astronomical in the modern day, but Barcelona might be caught on the back foot by clubs who are able to move quicker in the market.

PSG May Change Their Recruitment Approach This Summer

As well as a substantial pay rise and obscene signing-on fee, Mbappe’s new contract will give him more input into how PSG are run.

Improvements certainly need to be made in that regard, with the Galactico approach to recruitment having hitherto failed to land the French side the Champions League trophy they crave.

We could be about to see PSG change course in the transfer market. They are supposedly willing to listen to offers for Neymar, who has not lived up to his remarkable £198m fee.

If they can find a buyer for the Brazilian, Mane would be an ideal replacement. He is a superstar footballer without a superstar attitude – something PSG need much more of.

The Ligue 1 side are priced at 22/1 though, which suggests the UK bookmakers do not envisage Mane ending up in Paris.

Newcastle Among Three Outsiders Unlikely To Sign Mane

We should get used to Newcastle’s name appearing in discussions like this. The Magpies have the richest owner in world football and will not be afraid to splash the cash in the coming months.

However, Mane will not be interested in a move to St James’ Park at this stage of the club’s development, as odds of 33/1 on Betfair illustrate. Two Italian giants, Juventus and Inter, are available at the same price.

There has not been any reported interest in Mane from Serie A, but the two clubs would be able to meet Liverpool’s asking price and both have the history and status to be attractive options. As things stand, Mane is unlikely to end up in Italy.

Club Legend ‘Hopeful’ Mane Will Stay

Gambling.com columnist Ian Rush, Liverpool’s record goalscorer, hasn’t given up hope on Mane sticking out his contract, even if that means him leaving on a free transfer next summer.

“What Liverpool need to be doing right now is strengthening their squad, and letting Mane go isn’t going to do that,” Rush told Gambling.com.

“We need to prepare ourselves for how strong Manchester City are going to be next year because they’re already looking formidable.

“They’re going to be stronger, so we have to be stronger too. It’s a big concern because nobody wants Mane to leave, especially with the form he’s been in this year.

“I’m still hopeful that all three will stay – Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino – and I’m sure Jurgen Klopp feels the same, so let’s hope something can be sorted out. If any of them were to leave, it would be a big disappointment, but we’d just have to look to the future regardless.”

Next season’s Premier League title odds are already out, with online betting sites making City 4/6 favourites over Liverpool (2/1).
