Solskjaer Identifies Top Transfer Target for January Window

With the January transfer window now officially open, clubs up and down the country will be working hard to bring players in to improve their fortunes on the pitch. It will come as no surprise to many that one of the clubs who are looking to spend some seriously big money in order to enjoy a better second half to the season is Manchester United.

Our Indykaila sources close to the Old Trafford club have been advised that despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer only being the current caretaker Manager - with no guarantee that he will be at the helm past the end of the current season - the clubs hierarchy are keen to utilise his input into what is needed to improve the squad and make some blockbuster signings to help him get the team back into the coveted top 4 in the Premier League.

While it is obvious that Man Utd need to improve defensively and will no doubt be looking at defensive reinforcements this month, our understanding is that Solskjaer is also extremely keen to improve creative output.

With a number of more conservative midfield options such as Marouane Fellaini, Fred, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic, the onus is currently on the controversial Paul Pogba, inconsistent Jesse Lingaard and ageing Juan Mata to pull the strings in midfield.

New Player on Solskjaer's Radar

Solskjaer has been eager to return the club to it’s exciting, attacking footballing principles and has been tasked with not only improving the club’s form, but also the style within which they play.

Despite receiving much criticism from supporters during their tenure in charge of the club, the Glazer family now recognise importance and the demand from the fans for the team to excite as well as produce results and win trophies. Which is why they are willing to back their Norwegian interim in his pursuit of a player who can conduct the orchestra and unlock the teams attacking potential.

It would take a player of the highest calibre to be able to come into the club and transform it on the level required, which is why Solskjaer has identified someone who is used to representing a team that is under constant scrutiny at the highest level as his number 1 target.

The player in question? Isco.

Being a Spanish international with over 30 caps to his name and having been a Real Madrid player for 5 years, Isco would likely be undaunted by the prospect of playing for England’s most successful club. At 26 years old he is coming into what many would consider his prime playing years.

It is our understanding that Solksjaer sees Isco as the perfect player to bring into the club and reignite the both the team and the supporters. A real statement signing who could take some of the pressure off Pogba and provide the creative spark that is currently missing from the team.

Star Seeking Move Away From Spain

Having started just a handful of games for the Spanish giants this season, there have been numerous reports that Isco has grown unsettled and agitated by his lack of playing time and is considering his future at the club. Chelsea are said to have had a long standing interest in the playmaker and the latest transfer rumblings insist they are lining up a January bid for him, however their interest has seemingly cooled recently.

The reasons behind this are unclear, with some reports claiming that Isco is determined to battle his way back into Santiago Solari’s plans and others claiming that he is open to moving but is seeking a deal more lucrative than what Chelsea would be prepared to offer.

Indykaila sources in Madrid have reliably informed us that the truth is closer to the latter, with PSG showing interest and being willing to eclipse any deal that Chelsea would be willing to offer. We believe that this is why the London club have purchased Christian Pulisic off Borussia Dortmund instead.

Man Utd are fully aware of the situation and believe that they have the financial pulling power to be able to attract him to Old Trafford and keep him out of the clutches of the French champions. They would not be put off by the players’ wage demands and would impress upon him the fact that he would be a key player in their new look team going forward, playing in the most exciting league in the world as opposed to the often criticised standard in Ligue 1.
