SportAD, Ocean Resort Agree To FastFantasy Partnership
Gaming startup Sport Analytics & Data (SportAD) is teaming up with Atlantic City’s recently opened Ocean Resort to bring their daily fantasy sports-style games to the New Jersey casino.
FastFantasy works similar to daily fantasy games. Players pick the winner of head-to-head matchups between two players in baseball, soccer, basketball, and football (professional only). Players pick up to 10 different matchups (minimum 4) and a $1-$20 entry fee. Athletes score points in their matchups in fantasy sports style stat-accumulation. The lack of a salary cap means that players can pick whoever in any matchup being offered.
The number of matchups won increase a player’s winning, and picked every correct matchup increases a player’s payout, from 4/4 at 10:1 to 10/10 at 500:1. Draws result in null games, as do games where an athlete ends up not playing. A player whose roster only has active two matchups will be refunded entirely. Since the game launched, FastFantasy has seen an average bet of $24 an entry and an average hold of 33% of all bets. On top of that the 30-60-90 retention averages 50%-35%-28%.
Joe Brennan Jr., CEO of SportAD on their Ocean Resort launch:
“We are thrilled to provide FastFantasy’s games to Ocean Resort’s sportsbook and i-gaming operations. Given the excitement at the casino’s June 28 launch, the opportunity of regulated sports betting in New Jersey is outstanding. While states will use the next couple of years to hit critical mass with legal sports betting, we’re able in the meantime to create a large, highly-engaged base of players legally through our ability to bridge the betting and fantasy worlds, and build market share ahead of the competition for our partners.”
Adrianna Cuccinello, Ocean Resort Casino’s Executive Director of Internet Gaming:
“We are constantly striving to lead the way in the online gaming space, and by working with innovative partners such as SportAD, we’re able to provide our players with a continually expanding list of offerings in line with their interests.”
The Washington DC gaming company introduced their FastFantasy game to New Jersey back in 2017 in partnership with Resorts Digital, the online branch of Resorts Casino, which just partnered with DraftKings. The game was originally branded “FastPick” by Resorts and advertised as “The legal alternative to sports betting.” A year later, SportAD won “Best New Game” at the 2018 EGR North America Awards.
Despite sports betting now being legal, there’s still a demand for their fantasy-meets-betting game. FastFantasy is now operated in 40 different states around the country.
During the launch in 2017, SportAD CEO Joe Brennan Jr. said:
“Operators have been searching for a legal real-money sports game that they can offer as a way of attracting players while staying engaged with players and acquiring new ones. Our fully-compliant games give operators a powerful revenue driver and brand engagement that will enable them to grow their core business in multiple channels.”
SportAD was founded in 2015, and has grown to have offices in Washington DC, Las Vegas and London. The company is a product of the AOL Tech Incubator, and was funded by investors like James Pallotta (Raptor Group, Boston Celtics & AS Roma), Stuart Porter (Denham Capital), John Forlines III and SoundBoard Capital.
