William Hill Launches App
William Hill announced in late December that it had launched its sportsbook app in Washington D.C., following approval of the D.C. Office of Lottery and Gaming.
The William Hill sportsbook mobile app can be used within a two-block radius around Capital One Arena (excluding federal buildings) and offers sports fans a deep array of markets and bet types, including parlay cards and live in-play wagering. The app also includes a quick and secure registration process and various options to deposit and withdraw funds.
The exclusive sports betting partner of the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, Washington Mystics and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, William Hill opened a temporary sportsbook at Capital One Arena in July. A new sportsbook is planned for early 2021. It will be a multi-level space with 12 ticket windows and 10 self-service kiosks, two VIP areas and one large private dining/event space.
More Competition on the Way
The Washington Nationals on Jan. 11 announced a multi-year partnership with BetMGM to be official sports betting partner. The Nationals will also open a BetMGM Sportsbook connected to Nationals Park (the first in-stadium BetMGM sportsbook) and the launch of its mobile app within the permitted area around the park.
The BetMGM sportsbook will be located where Center Field Social (across Center Field Plaza from the Nationals Team Store) resides, according to the news release. Fans will not be able to access the sportsbook during Nationals games, but they can place bets on BetMGM's mobile app.
In late October, FanDuel announced that it will open a retail sportsbook at Audi Field, home of Major League Soccer’s D.C. United, as part of a multiyear partnership with the team. FanDuel will be the United’s exclusive sports betting sponsor.
FanDuel and the United hope to open the sportsbook in 2021, pending licensing and regulatory approvals from the DC Lottery.
