As part of its increasing U.S. market presence, the PointsBet sportsbook has struck a sports betting deal with the Indiana Pacers, becoming an official partner with the NBA team.

The move comes a few months after PointsBet, founded in Australia, launched an Indiana mobile sports betting app.

The deal was announced Tuesday in a news release on the Pacers’ website.

Unique Placement For PointsBet Advertising

As part of the agreement, PointsBet can advertise on the sidelines between the benches and the baseline, an area known as the apron. It’s the first time a sportsbook will be able to place its branding in that area on the court. The sportsbook also can put signs throughout the team’s home arena, Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

"This corporate partnership with PointsBet represents a real win for both companies," Rick Fuson, the president and COO of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, said in the release. "We look forward to welcoming them in as a very visible brand at the Fieldhouse and through our various channels."

The Indiana sportsbook and gaming market is just one part of PointsBet’s expansion plans in the United States. Late in 2019, the company pledged to raise $84 million in capital to boost its efforts in the U.S. sports betting market.

According to the team release, new PointsBet Indiana users can enter the code "PACERS" to get $100 in free bets when they deposit and bet at least $20.

“Indiana represents a massive opportunity for PointsBet, and we will take a heavily localized approach to ensure we are delivering the best overall customer experience Indiana sports fans and bettors are seeking,” PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken said.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed sports betting into law in May 2019. Since then several major sportsbook operators have launched retail or mobile sports betting, or both, in the Hoosier State including PointsBet, which partnered with Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg.
