PointsBet Launching Indiana Mobile Sports Betting Thursday
PointsBet received authorization from the Indiana Gaming Commission to launch its state-wide mobile and online platform on Thursday. The final sign-off gets the Australian company out front of one of the most lucrative sports betting markets of the year in one of the states where it matters most.
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament begins with First Four games on March 17. The Midwest Regional will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium.
“The PointsBet team is excited to go live in Indiana — our third state of operation — prior to this year’s NCAA Tournament, as well as the various conference tournaments like the Big Ten, which is set to take place in Indy,” PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken said. “A thrilling upcoming basketball slate should serve as the perfect springboard for introducing the sports-loving community in the Hoosier State to our premium sports betting product.”
Indiana’s basketball-rich tradition makes the NCAA tourney a heavily anticipated event each year, even when the Hoosiers are not in contention for a spot. Indianapolis-based Butler (20-9) received the most votes of any team outside the top 25 in the most recent AP poll and is projected as a No. 7 seed by ESPN.
PointsBet is currently live in New Jersey sportsbooks as well as in Iowa.

PointsBet Retail Niche in Indiana Strong
PointsBet has access to the Indiana sports betting market through a partnership with Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, which is roughly 30 miles west of Cincinnati. That property was second in the state in retail handle in January ($7,736,943), trailing only Horseshoe Hammond ($13,705,355), which is the closest casino to downtown Chicago at less than 30 miles.
PointsBet will represent the sixth mobile product in Indiana, leaving five sportsbooks and licensed racinos without an online offering. It joins BetMGM, the most recent online participant, market-leader DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers and BetAmerica. Unibet will eventually join the market after gaining access to Indiana through a Kindred Group deal with Caesars Entertainment.
PointsBet received its temporary vendor license on Jan. 27.
