PokerStars Launching Pennsylvania Online Poker Spring Event
PokerStars is launching a new tournament this week for Pennsylvania online poker players called the Pennsylvania Spring Championship of Online Poker.
The inaugural tournament, called PASCOOP for short, begins April 4 and runs through April 20 with $2 million in prizes guaranteed over the course of 100 events.
The announcement came days after PokerStars announced the latest edition of the New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker for New Jersey online poker players.

Pennsylvania and New Jersey, along with Delaware and Nevada, have online casino or poker available. West Virginia and Michigan have also legalized online casinos and hope to launch them later this year.
Format for Pennsylvania Online Poker Tournament
The inaugural PASCOOP tournament features mostly No-Limit Texas Hold’Em games, some Pot Limit Omaha games and a couple of No-Limit Omaha and Stud Hi-Lo games as well. On April 10 there are two 8-Game events, a higher buy-in ($200, with $17,500 in prizes) and a lower buy-in ($20, with $4,000 guaranteed).
Buy-ins are as little as $5 and as much $500 for games leading up to the two-day Main Event April 19-20.
Players on PokerStars PA can earn their way into the high-end Main Event, where guaranteed prizes total $200,000. A second Main Event with a $50 buy-in, also running April 19-20, guarantees $50,000 in prizes.
Participants can enter into a $15,000 Main Event Depositor Freeroll that rewards winners with $300 Main Event tickets.
Players who frequently visit top online poker sites will recognize the format for these events, including a daily Second Chance All-In Shootout Freeroll with $1,000 available each day.
The format in Pennsylvania is very similar to the New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker.
Busy Season for Online Poker
In addition to the Pennsylvania spring event and its New Jersey online poker counterpart, PokerStars introduced a Bounty Builder progressive knockout event format to online poker players in New Jersey and Pennsylvania this winter.
The World Series of Poker also introduced an 18-ring Online Super Circuit Series running through the end of March. And the World Poker Tour’s first online poker series runs May 10-26.
