PokerStars Summer Tournament Series Set for PA, NJ & Michigan

PokerStars Summer Tournament Series Set for PA, NJ & Michigan

PokerStars just announced a summer online poker tournament series that will run across three states and should appeal to more casual players with relatively modest buy-ins. Yet, each state series will culminate with a Main Event that offers the attraction of a big payday.

The summer promotion from PokerStars is called the Summer Stacks Festival. It will run as independent tourney series in three states — Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey — and in each state the series will run June 12-28. The Summer Stacks comes on the heels of PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) that also ran in those three states.

The summer event will offer recreational players a variety of opportunities to get into the online poker action because of low buy-ins and convenient formats. There will be 100 online events featuring buy-ins of $100 or less in each state and the series will also feature shorter events, such as turbos. In addition, there will be chances to participate for free.

The total guaranteed prize pools in Pennsylvania and Michigan will be $1 million each, and in New Jersey, the total guaranteed prize pool will be $500,000.

Main Events Scheduled

A poker series wouldn’t be a poker series without a Main Event, and the Summer Stacks Festival has one for each state. The Main Event will be a two-day tournament with a $100 buy-in in each state and will start on June 27. The Main Event guaranteed prize pools for Pennsylvania and Michigan will be $100,000 each. The Main Event guaranteed prize pool for New Jersey will be $50,000.

The sweeteners for the Summer Stack Festival include a PokerStars giveaway of $10,000 worth of Main Event tickets in a daily Depositor Freeroll. To receive a freeroll ticket, players must deposit $30 with bonus code SUMMER21. And if a player gets knocked out of any Summer Stacks tournament before reaching the money, they can get back into the action through daily Second Chance Freerolls, where a total of $10,000 worth of Summer Stacks tournament tickets will be awarded.

The PokerStars Spring Championships of Online Poker (SCOOP), which ran in the same three states, was considered a success, with prize pools typically exceeding guarantees.

In Pennsylvania, the SCOOP drew more than 47,000 entries and paid out about $2.64 million in prize money. In Michigan, there were more than 40,000 entries and about $2.36 in prizes were paid out. And in New Jersey, there were more than 26,000 entries and about $1.36 million in prizes was paid.
