Yggdrasil Gaming announced on Thursday they’ve signed on to bring their portfolio to 888casino. The agreement between Yggdrasil and 888 Holdings will bring Yggdrasil’s games to all of the global markets that 888 Holdings operates in. This includes the UK, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Romania, Nevada, and New Jersey.
The deal also coincides with 888casino launching their new website that has been completely redone. The new 888casino lives on a new gaming platform and web application. The online mainstay has also taken a mobile-first approach for those trying to play while on the go.
Yggdrasil CEO Fredrik Elmqvist said, “This is further evidence that our content is in high-demand from operators and we are delighted to have 888 on board." He described 888 as “a hugely significant name in the industry and we are certain our games will be well received by their players.”
888 Head of Product Technologies Hila Klein also had this to say about the deal:
“Yggdrasil’s rich content portfolio will be very welcomed aboard the 888 proposition as we continue to offer a market-leading casino experience to players worldwide. The games will complement our recent relaunch of 888casino on our new proprietary platform.”
According to Yggdrasil’s press release, the agreement will bring Yggdrasil video slots games specifically to 888casino, one of the oldest online casinos still in operation.
Launching in 1997 as Casino-on-Net, 888casino was the first exclusively online licensed casino in the United States in 2013. The casino renamed itself to the 888 brand after being acquired in 2010. The library of 888casino includes such industry heavyweights as NetEnt and PlayTech.
Yggdrasil Gaming has been in the industry since 2013. 888casino becomes another in a line of online casinos to carry the Yggdrasil games, including Bet365 Casino, LeoVegas.com, and Videoslots.com. The addition of 888casino to Yggdrasil’s list of distributors helps boost the reputation of young tech company.
They recently released Vikings Go To Hell in May, harkening back to their namesake with the Norse-themed game. The online slots game features 5 reels, 4 rows, and 25 different paylines. Yggdrasil’s Rage collection from previous Vikings games returns, with Rage collecting from Vikings that land on the reels resulting in Berzerk Free Spins when a single Viking collects enough rage.
Also released recently by Yggdrasil is their first table game: Sonya Blackjack. The game features a motion-capture dealer (the eponymous “Sonya”) and allows up to 3 players at a single table. It also allows operators to customize the dealer and casino environment to create a more immersive experience for players and to better fit the operator’s website. In describing the game, Yggdrasil CPO Krzystof Opalka said:
“Yggdrasil has a track record of ripping up the rulebook to deliver products that reinvent online casino and Sonya Blackjack is no different. We’ve witnesses unprecedented interest in the product since we first introduced it at ICE. Never before has a table game product been so customisable. With our 3D modelling, operators have unlimited opportunities to create brand- and event-specific environments, at a significantly lower cost than with live dealer.”
Yggdrasil hopes to evolve Sonya Blackjack into Roulette and Baccarat later in the year.
