F1 Betting Tip:

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc are continuing their dual pursuit of the title and the Miami Grand Prix at the start of May did nothing but open up the drivers championship further.

The Dutch driver won convincingly after overtaking Leclerc in just the ninth lap of the Florida contest and held on to that lead for the rest of the Grand Prix in a typical dramatic conclusion.

Red Bull’s speed down the straight opened up the race and Verstappen expertly guided his car past the leader of the Drivers Championship.

Leclerc still leads the Championship but that was cut down to just 19 points as a result of the last race.

The Monegasque driver’s 27 point lead depleted as Verstappen made all to win the Miami Grand Prix by 3.786 seconds.

As a result, the betting sites have taken action on Verstappen’s odds to win the 2022 championship and now make him the odds-on favourite.

Red Bull and Ferrari Inseparable

F1 betting sites can’t split the two, Red Bull and Ferrari, on who will take the Constructor’s crown with both sharing odds of 10/11.

That in itself is quite telling of how the season is shaping up between Verstappen and Leclerc who now are the only two in with a shout of taking the title at this early stage, barring somewhat of a miracle from Lewis Hamilton.

The Brit hasn’t had much luck with his car in 2022 and Mercedes haven’t come up with anything to challenge the two market leaders in any of the Grand Prix to date.

Red Bull’s season depends on Sergio Perez adding to their points total behind Verstappen’s podium finishes while Ferrari have a similar story with Carlos Sainz, who has three podium finishes.

Perez may have only two podium finishes, but better placings in total sees him third on the leaderboard with 66 points - while Sainz has just 53.

So it’s not just on the winner of the driver’s championship for them but also making sure their cars are getting more points on the board throughout and consistency holds that key.

Something Ferrari are looking to hold the most at this stage still and, with the odds drifting slightly with bet365, they look more and more value even at odds-on.

Spanish GP Can Shake Things Up

The Spanish GP could really impact the betting depending on the outcome as the constructors’ championship is incredibly close and sure enough by Sunday, one of them will drift out to odds against.

Last year the Barcelona circuit underwent some changes at turn 10 to be a much rounder and smoother turn into 11 making it a much faster sequence in comparison to the almost hairpin-like manoeuvre needed in previous races.

The owners of the track aren’t stopping there though, as more changes are coming in 2023 which will see the chicane in the final sector removed in hopes for a more competitive and closer race.

In future, this can give almost a slingshot effect heading into the final turn and then ultimately into the long straight, which could see more drama at the track.

But before that chicane is taken out, the current set-up, along with the changes being made to the Ferraris seem like it’s all going in favour of Leclerc and Sainz for a 1-2 in Barcelona.
