One of Coral's lucky punters has won a massive £41,522 on a 20-fold accumulator of football matches spread across the continent, on which he bet just £15. The anonymous 26-year-old man from Swadlincote, Derbyshire, who believed he was going to miss out, won the jackpot after two games dramatically turned in his favour during the final minutes of play.
The first was PSV Eindhoven, who scored in the 89th minute of their game, pushing them to a 2-1 win against RKC Waalwijk. This was not as nail-biting as another European match between Real Madrid and Levante, with the latter team leading the former La Liga champions 2-1 in the 89th minute thanks to a late goal from Nabil El Zhar. Thankfully for both Real and the Swadlincote punter, Alvaro Morata scored the equaliser, swiftly followed by a Christiano Ronaldo strike in the fourth minute of extra time.
From the English Premier League, he predicted that Chelsea would win comfortably against Norwich 3-1, and that Liverpool would get the same result against Crystal Palace. QPR managed to notch up another win with a 2-0 victory against Barnsley, while Middlesbrough hammered Yeovil 4-1. Further down the table, he correctly predicted that Swindon would score once against Tranmere Rovers, and that Fleetwood would carry a comfortable 3-1 result against Bristol Rovers.
North of the border, he successfully backed Rangers winning away to Ayr 2-0, and that Dundee United’s Tangerine Army would quash Kilmarnock with a 1-0 victory. Other teams that helped the punter on his merry win were Barcelona, FC Schalke 04, Ajax, Sporting Lisbon, Napoli, Empoli and Monaco.
Upon hearing about the amazing win, Coral PR Manager Nicola McGeady said, “It is a fantastic achievement to predict 20 football matches correctly and the shrewd customer deserves every penny of his £41,522. He is a regular recreational punter with us, and this win is certainly a life-changing amount of money for him”.
