Paddy Power Opens Glastonbury Festival Betting Markets

April 4th, 2013

This summer sees the return of the hugely popular Glastonbury Festival, and the recent announcement of this year's glittering line-up for the weekend of 28th-30th June suggests that it's ready to come back in style.

Just in case a line-up which includes bands like the Arctic Monkeys and Mumford & Sons wasn’t impressive enough, the festival's organisers have managed to bag one of the biggest bands of all time: the Rolling Stones. And in recognition of the event, Paddy Power Sports has priced up a number of special Glastonbury markets that festival fans can enjoy.

One Glastonbury market concerns which song the Rolling Stones will choose to open with. At the time of writing, Paint It Black is the 2/1 favourite out of a field of five songs. Interestingly, Wild Horses gets a look-in with odds of 4/1, even though it might seem unlikely for any rock band to open a festival set with a slow acoustic number.

Players can also bet on which song they think that the Rolling Stones will close their set with. There is again a selection of five to choose from, with no repetition of the songs listed on the opening song market. One of the band’s biggest-selling singles, (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, is the odds-on favourite at 6/4, although both Jumpin’ Jack Flash (9/4) and Brown Sugar (7/1) are also frequently played live.

For any budding weather forecasters out there, Paddy Power Sports' Specials Betting page also has a Glastonbury weather market. You can back the hottest day of the year to occur during the festival at 12/1, while anyone with the hunch that a thunderstorm will blow out the power on the Pyramid Stage can get odds of 25/1 on this happening.

For all you need to know about the bookmaker, head over to Paddy Power Sports to make your festival bets.
