4 ACC Week 3 Games to Bet On: Spread Picks and Outrights

Quick Tips

While Hurricane Florence has caused a slew of cancellations this weekend there are a few ACC matchups college football betting fans can get excited about.

Some powerhouse programs hit the road looking to bounce back from disappointing starts, while one up-and-coming team looks to stay on the rise.

  1. Florida State at Syracuse

It’s been an abysmal start to Willie Taggart’s tenure as head coach in Tallahassee. As if a 24-3 loss to Virginia Tech to open the season wasn’t bad enough, the Noles spent last weekend in a 36-26 dogfight with Samford, an FCS program, that saw them losing as late as the second half.

There would appear to be nowhere to go but up, and taking on the Orange on the road may provide the perfect opportunity for Florida State to get back on track and snatch back some lost pride.

Cuse has looked dangerous on offense in two early convincing wins, but FSU will be their first real test and we expect the Noles to come out hungrier and take control early.

Don’t believe the hype building for the Orange in this one and take the Noles to cover a very slim spread as the favourite.

    Spread Pick: FSU (-2.5) -110 at 888Sport.

    Outright: FSU -148 at 888Sport.

  2. Miami at Toledo

Speaking of Florida teams off to bad starts, the Miami Hurricanes travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets at the Glass Bowl.

The story of how this game even came to be is an interesting one if not a headscratcher for the Canes in terms of scheduling. It’s being labeled as one of the most “anticipated home games in Toledo history.”

To be blunt: We think it’s going to get pretty unexciting pretty quickly.

The opening loss to LSU in Arlington and the shakiness of Malik Rozier at quarterback have placed Miami back where they started last season: in under-the-radar territory.

Whether or not they get back into the playoff discussion is a different story, but they’ll definitely get up for this road matchup to keep the good vibes of a 77-0 beatdown going.

    Spread Pick: Miami (-10) -110 at 888Sport.

    Outright: Miami -375 at 888Sport.

  3. Georgia Tech at Pittsburgh

One of the low-key most entertaining games of last weekend was South Florida’s shootout win over the Ramblin Wreck.

The Yellow Jackets lost a tough one, yet were almost able to ride their triple option attack to victory. Tech picked up an astonishing 419 yards rushing with four touchdowns on the ground while only attempting 18 passes.

After losing despite leading by 10 points late in that game and putting up those kinds of numbers, we expect the Jackets to respond against a disheartened Pittsburgh team that didn’t look much better at tackling than the Bulls did in Week 2.

We like Tech to cover the spread and bounce back with a convincing victory in the Steel City.

Spread Pick: Georgia Tech (-4) at -110 at 888Sport.

Outright: Georgia Tech -182 at 888Sport.

  4. Duke at Baylor

Are the Blue Devils for real this season? That’s a question that could get a rousing response this weekend as Duke heads down to the heart of Texas to take on Baylor.

The Blue Devils left early ahead of the storm and as nonconference matchups go, this is as big as it gets for coach David Cutcliffe.

He’s overseen what many consider a revolution for the Duke football program and a win over a more established side in Baylor could go a long way towards his legacy.

Ghosts of last season were already busted in a win over a respectable Army team. Then Duke shut down a tough Big Ten side in Northwestern on the road. Now we’ll see if they can contain a Big 12 offense.

It should be a thrilling contest and we love the Blue Devils to keep the momentum going as 6.5-point dogs.

Spread Pick: Duke (+6.5) at -110 at 888Sport.

    Outright: Duke +200 at 888Sport.
