It’s arguably the best time of the year for WWE betting fans, as the road to WrestleMania begins. And the starting line for this journey has historically been the Royal Rumble. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan won the inaugural Royal Rumble in 1988, but it wasn’t until 1989 when the unique over-the-top-rope battle royal was taken to Pay-Per-View.
This year we once again have a women’s Royal Rumble and a men’s Royal Rumble featuring 30 competitors in each, to be held January 27 in Phoenix. R Truth and Carmella each qualified for No. 30 after winning the Mixed Match Challenge.
Despite the getting the prime spots, it’s less likely the “Dance Break” duo actually leave victorious (70/1 for Carmella and 125/1for R-Truth if you bet sites such as Betfair) and PaddyPower. Inching closer to the Rumble, here are some picks to consider at the top of the pool.
Women’s 2019 Royal Rumble Betting Tips
The hottest thing going on Raw and SmackDown Live has been “The Man” Becky Lynch. The fiery competitor continues to build momentum and win over audiences with her rebellious nature.
An injury at the hands of Nia Jax sidelined the popular performer and took her out of Survivor Series against Ronda Rousey. The “Irish Lass Kicker” then lost the blue brand’s women’s championship to Asuka at the TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs event. Lynch followed it up by earning a rematch at the Royal Rumble.
When someone is challenging for a world title, they don’t enter the Royal Rumble. That said there is still a feeling that Lynch can walk away winning the second Rumble. Being a marked women thanks to her actions in recent months gives her the underdog story fans liken to a “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in 1998.
A Ronda Rousey match at WrestleMania looks to be something fans want to see and a distinct possibility. Rousey cost Lynch the women’s title at TLC, which coupled with the back-and-forth trash talking on social media, adds more fuel to the fire.
Another favorite is Charlotte Flair, who has been linked with her frenemy in a series of battles in 2018. Flair stepped in for Lynch at Survivor Series against Rousey in a match that ended in a non-finish. Meaning there is also some unfinished business with the “Baddest Woman on the Planet.”
There has been growing speculation that WrestleMania would include a triple threat with Rousey, Lynch and Flair. With Rousey on Raw and the other two on SmackDown, a Rumble win would be a way to get them on the same shows.
Perhaps there is a possibility that Lynch and Flair end the Rumble in an ending that is too close to call and both of their feet hit the floor at the same time. This scenario happened for the first time back in 1994 with Bret Hart and Lex Luger. A similar finish occurred in 2005 with John Cena and Batista.
You can bet Flair at -400 and Becky Lynch at +250 at PaddyPower.

Men’s 2019 Royal Rumble Betting Tips
The main event picture on the men’s side was turned upside down when Roman Reigns announced to the world on Raw he had to relinquish the Universal championship and focus on a leukemia diagnosis. Brock Lesnar once gain stepped in and retrieved the gold back.
The less than visible “Beast Incarnate” is set to defend against Braun Strowman. The result of that can certainly play a role in who wins the Rumble. Odds see Lesnar favored at PaddyPower at 2/9 against the “Monster Among Men.”
Out of the Raw roster come the more likely picks to win the Rumble with Seth Rollins at the top of the list. He has been embroiled in a rivalry with Dean Ambrose for most of the second half of 2018.
Ambrose took the Intercontinental title from his former Shield brother, leaving the door open for “The Architect” to get back into the Universal title picture. Rollins himself has since moved on to Bobby Lashley, but it’s clear the fan favorite has eyes on securing a Rumble win.
There is also the built-in story of Rollins going against the uphill battle against Lesnar at WrestleMania to avenge Reigns. Lesnar himself would look for revenge from when Rollins successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on him at WrestleMania 31.
If it’s not Rollins, another favorite is Drew McIntyre, someone who returned to the scene almost 10 years after his debut on SmackDown Live. He was let go after playing a secondary role in the group Three Man Band (3MB) a few years ago and was given a second chance with NXT. Before getting the callup, he secured the developmental brand’s heavyweight championship.
The imposing McIntyre has since taken full advantage of the opportunity and linked up with Dolph Ziggler. They began feuding with their last encounter inside a steel cage. On Raw, the superstar got a big vote of confidence in the form of a decisive win over the legendary Kurt Angle.
With the possibility of Strowman finally getting his run with the Universal title, this would be a likely contender for his title at WrestleMania. Bet Seth Rollins to win the Royal Rumble at 2/1 and Drew McIntyre at 11/4 with Betfair.
