Live dealer casino gaming is on the up, and Playtech is pulling players towards the summit of the mountain. As part of its recent breakthrough in the Omni-channel arena, Playtech recently announced that it's opening a new live dealer studio in the Latvian capital, Riga, that will be the world's largest live casino studio!
At the start of 2017, Playtech announced that it was opening a new live dealer facility in Romania. With the Romanian government in the process of relaxing its gambling laws and regulating the industry, Playtech has been granted four operational B2B licences.
As well as gaining permission to offer hosting, platform and software within the country, Playtech's live dealer provisions were also given the green light. Capitalising on this development, Playtech announced the opening of a Bucharest-based studio in January.
Complete with Romanian-speaking dealers and HD cameras focused on blackjack, roulette and casino hold'em tables, the brand new facility was another important marker on the company's "live casino roadmap".
Indeed, with CEO Mor Weizer promising many more developments after Romania, it came as little surprise to industry insiders when Playtech announced its latest studio opening in Riga.
However, what has surprised many is the scale of the operation. In a bid to become the number one live casino provider ahead of Evolution Gaming, Playtech has kitted out an 8,500 square metre facility with the latest gaming technology. With such a large venue at its disposal, Playtech not only plans to enhance its current suite of offerings, but revolutionise the genre.
In describing his plans, Weizer said the brand new venue will allow Playtech and its licensees to move with the times and become completely "future-proofed". Moreover, with space to add more cameras and monitoring equipment, Playtech is bidding to become the safest live dealer software provider in the world.
"This now gives us the platform to deliver the next generation of live casino to our customers, and will also give us the flexibility and ability to deliver many new and innovative products."
Even before Playtech opens its doors to new innovations in Riga, the company was busy adding more games to its portfolio. Following the success of its first "Prestige" live casino game, roulette, Playtech released Prestige Baccarat in November 2016.
Offering enhanced gameplay and camera angles, the new variant has not only proved a hit with players, but it forms part of the company's plan to bring new dimensions to the genre. Playtech COO, Shimon Akad, in an official press release, commented:
"Prestige Baccarat and the Prestige suite of products marks the beginning of a very exciting journey and Playtech Live unveiling its next generation of live casino games, platform technology and software that we believe will take live casino to an entirely new level of product capability, performance and personalisation."
As well as finding new ways to enhance the live dealer experience for players, the Riga studio has a training site for dealers. To ensure the highest levels of service and dealers that rival those found in a brick-and-mortar casino, Playtech will train dealers onsite with the actual equipment used inside the studio.
Moreover, because the studio is the largest of its kind in the world, it means Playtech now has the capacity to work with more operators in the coming months. In fact, according to the company's press release, space inside the studio has already been set aside for new customers. This will mean that Playtech casino fans will soon be able to enjoy live action from the Riga facility through a host of new platforms in 2017.
In addition to bolstering its presence in the live gaming arena, Playtech's Riga studio is another step forward for the company's Omni-channel technology. Following the recent release of the first 'true Omni-channel' slot, Tiki Paradise, Playtech Live Riga will be available across all devices.
By offering players access to a full suite of live casino games via a single wallet, it should further enhance the company's reputation as a leading provider of Omni-channel technology. Following the opening of the largest live dealer casino studio in the world, shares in Playtech were up by more than 1.2% to 839 pence per share.
