The football season has well and truly kicked off, and Unibet customers have been taking advantage of a new commentary service that’s just the latest in a long line of innovations the brand has been rolling out. The 2017/18 campaign will be the first in which punters betting on in-play markets, or those merely following their pre-match bets, will be able to hear exclusive live commentary feeds after placing a wager with Unibet sportsbook!
This is a marked improvement on the crowd noise or complete silence that many bookmakers run with their live streaming. The technology behind the service has been provided by the Perform Group, a UK-based sports marketing agency that has partnered with Kindred, the parent company of Unibet, on various projects.
The software enables Kindred’s own team of handpicked sports commentators to deliver analysis from a location anywhere on the globe, without the need to actually travel to the event. This reduction in operating costs means Unibet will be able to cover more worldwide sporting occasions than ever before, with football the main focus of the operation and horse racing and tennis set to follow!
Unibet TV has been a revelation for the brand, and is one way in which the firm is able to tackle some of its more established competitors who benefit from a high-street presence alongside their online operations. There are hundreds of events being live streamed around the clock every day, with football and tennis the most popular.
For many individuals without a satellite TV subscription, live streaming services are the only way in which they can enjoy top-class sporting action on their devices, and Unibet securing the rights to the EuroBasket tournament of 2017 is testament to the company’s desire to provide an industry-leading platform.
The improvement in live streaming has occurred in conjunction with the enhanced smart technologies many punters have at their disposal, with next-generation smartphones and tablets facilitating smoother playback and broadcast quality. Further moves are being made to improve live feeds, with low latency streaming very much on the agenda moving forward.

The in-play product offered by Unibet is now amongst the very best in the business, and that’s no surprise given its hook-up with the Perform Group. This is an organisation that has its own gambling division – Perform Betting Solutions – and it has been responsible for a number of industry-leading innovations over the past few years.
One of its latest – and this is available to Unibet punters as well – is In-Play Facts, a service produced in conjunction with Bettorlogic. This provides deep data to punters across a wide range of in-play sports and markets, with data visualisations implemented alongside traditional live streaming footage.
These are presented as a series of prompts every five minutes, and keep the betting community in the loop as to the likelihood of a goal being scored (and when), the number of corners and cards that will be awarded, and a whole host of information streams that enhance the betting experience.
More than 80 worldwide leagues are covered by In-Play Facts, as well as internationals and continental competitions, with some 9,000 matches per year covered in some context by the service. Ross MacEacharn, CEO of Perform’s content division, said:
