One lucky Ladbrokes Sports customer has managed to snag nearly £19,000 from a £2 Free Bet, in the bookmakers Result Rush coupon. The gambler picked the winners of six games from the first eight days of the World Cup, however, the twist was that both teams had to score in order for the bet to bear fruit.
His first was the opening game, backing host side Brazil to beat Croatia, with the latter side actually going ahead with an early Marcelo own-goal, before Brazil eventually scored three to win. The next win came the following day, when Holland demolished 2010 World Cup Champions Spain 5-1, despite the former winners having won an early penalty. The following day, Argentina managed to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina, coincidentally aided by another own goal. However, the South-Eastern European side managed to claw one back with Ibisevic finding the net in the 84th minute, keeping the bet alive.
The punter had to wait a further two days until the third result rang true, with Belgium beating Algeria 2-1, although the North-African team took an early lead thanks to Feghouli’s well-placed penalty. It was another two days before the penultimate game of the betting slip between Columbia and Ivory Coast. The game remained goalless until the middle of the second half, when Colombia bagged two in less than 10 minutes. Three minutes later, Gervinho hit home to net Ivory Coast a consolation goal.
This left just one game, three days later, between France and Switzerland, which proved to be one of the most memorable games in the history of the World Cup. France were 5-0 up by the 73rd minute, which must have left the poor punter sweating, until Switzerland managed to save a shred of dignity with two goals in the last 10 minutes of the game, and allow the punter to pick up his prize of £18,879.
The World Cup is not over just yet, so if you still fancy a flutter, why not visit Ladbrokes Sports today?
