The NFL is the ultimate league to overreact to. In Week 6, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season in a wild 43-40 game to the New England Patriots on the road on Sunday night. So, the Chiefs fell to 5-1.
Naturally, that caused some folks to conclude that the Chiefs are not that good. But in reality, this game should reinforce Kansas City as a team be counted on for the long haul.
The Chiefs answered a lot of questions in this game. Hot-shot first-year starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled early. Yet he led his team back and showed he has big gumption. This was a classic heavyweight fight. The Patriots beat the Chiefs, but it easily could have gone the other way.
The Chiefs were going blow-for-blow with the Patriots. Andy Reid’s team is in for the long haul if their great offensive weapons stay healthy.
The Chiefs’ biggest problem is on defense. It doesn’t have enough playmakers. But that offense is going help Kansas City deal with a somewhat shaky defense. Mahomes and his offensive teammates are for real.
The Bengals have had a strong early season, probably stronger than many people thought. They are 4-2 and one of the better teams in the very thin AFC. This could be a playoff preview.
Like Kansas City, the shine is off the Bengals a bit because they are coming off a loss as well. Pittsburgh beat the Bengals, 28-21, with a late score in Week 6. Still, the Bengals are a solid club, and this will be an intriguing matchup of two quality teams both trying to avoid bitter losses two weeks in a row.
Kansas City has some injury issues. Top pass-rusher Justin Houston has a hamstring injury. Safety Eric Berry has been out with Achilles and heel issues and center Mitch Morse is dealing with a concussion he suffered against the Patriots.
The Bengals are monitoring several injuries with the most serious being a knee injury to linebacker Nick Vigil and a shoulder injury to Darqueze Dennard.
Here are some things for NFL betting fans to consider in this matchup:
I can see the Chiefs running away from the Bengals. I think Cincinnati can play some, but Kansas City is a runaway train on offense. Arrowhead Sodium will be fired up for this Sunday night game. I see the home team winning comfortably. Take Kansas City -5.5 with 888Sport.
I’ve been leaning hard on the Chiefs and the over this year because most of their games go over, easily. Their game against New England totaled 83 points, but 59.5 seems a bit high for this game.
I’m not sure Cincinnati is going to be up to it. I may live to regret this decision because I believe in Kansas City games being pinball machines games. But this line seems a high, so take under 59.5 with Karamba.
I can see the Chiefs starting fast to reward their home crowd and then go into cruise control. So, this is a nice little two-bet parlay to bet at +195 with 888Sport.
