Britain’s Got Talent 2016 Betting Preview: Paddy Power Opens the Market

Britain’s Got Talent is back for 2016, with two episodes already broadcast. So far, viewers have been treated to several impressive performances, including the likes of Beau Dermot, Another Kind of Blue and 100 Voices of Gospel. Here, are the latest odds on the leading acts from betting giant Paddy Power Sports.
The Favourite: Beau Dermott
After just one week, Beau Dermott is the frontrunner to win the 2016 show at 3/1 with Paddy Power Sports. Despite her nerves, the 13-year-old astonished the judges with her rendition of 'Defying Gravity' from the hit musical Wicked. Simon Cowell appeared sceptical of her choice, but gave a standing ovation just minutes later.
Judge Amanda Holden was so impressed that she used her golden buzzer to send Beau directly to the live semi-finals. Introduced in 2014, each judge can use their buzzer to send one act on to the latter stages of the competition.
More Than Just a Singing Competition
Although Beau Dermott won over many viewers, she will face tough competition from European dance troupe Another Kind of Blue. Hailing from the Netherlands and Italy, two dancers performed against a changing background to create a stunning artistic performance.
Cowell was compelled to give Another Kind of Blue a standing ovation – the troupe is currently priced at 10/3 behind Beau Dermott, offering punters slightly better value for money. Some viewers even complained via Twitter that the European dancers did not receive a golden buzzer in week two.
100 vs 1
Beau's toughest competition in terms of singing comes from the 100 Voices of Gospel group which delivered a stunning finale during week two, singing 'This Little Light of Mine'. At the end of their performance, the choir – which is made up of more than 20 nationalities – even managed to spark a golden buzzer battle between Cowell and fellow judge Alesha Dixon.
Cowell could only shout his discontent as Dixon beat him to the button, saying:
"I wanted you to be my buzzer. I’m so irritated that this one got to it first."
Following the show, Paddy Power priced 100 Voices of Gospel at 6/1 to finish as the outright winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2016.
Richard Jones Blowing Minds
Richard Jones shined as another star on the weekend, astonishing the judges and crowd with his fascinating blend of illusion and mind reading. Judge David Walliams, in particular, was stunned to see the 25-year-old transform a can of soft drink into a cup of tea. Ahead of week three, Richard Jones is available at 10/1.
The Under 'Dogs'
Lucy and her dog Trip Hazard drew a controversial comment from Cowell, who said: "Just to be clear, there’s only one of them, yeah?" The music mogul seized the moment to reference the use of a stunt dog by last year’s winners, Jules and Matisse. However, this did not stop Lucy and Trip Hazard’s act from being considered a 12/1 prospect by Paddy Power.
Jack Higgins is one of the more distant prospects at 20/1, but is garnering media support as the cousin of Beau Dermott. The fellow contestants have twin mothers, whom they would perform jointly for as toddlers. While Beau is the singer of the family, 14-year-old Jack’s dancing has earned him the nickname Billy Elliot from Walliams. Jack could be the feel-good star of 2016 after revealing he has been bullied for his love of dance.
