Did Trends Win The Last Champion Chase?

On the trends last year, there were only two horses that made the Champion Chase shortlist: the mighty Altior and Min - the pair having finished first and second for the second time at the Cheltenham Festival a year earlier.

Altior, the 2018 Champion Chase winner, was seeking an 18th successive victory and sent off as the 4/11 favourite to achieve that for trainer Nicky Henderson. There's no trend he could not hit, and there was no beating the nine-year-old, who gave Henderson a remarkable sixth Champion Chase win.

Min, as the previous year, again fit the trends, successful last time out at the Leopardstown Dublin Racing Festival in his third Grade 1 victory. But he was not the force of 2018 at Cheltenham, finishing fifth at odds of 7/2.
