Get ready for Day 2 at the Cheltenham Festival and David Mullins, a multiple Grade 1 winning jockey now retired from the saddle, uses all his experience to guide you through with his race by race guide to the biggest week in the National Hunt racing calendar. Today we move on to the Champion Chase and the supporting card for Wednesday at Cheltenham.

Ballymore Novices' Hurdle 1.20pm - Bob Olinger

A brilliant renewal with a class top three in the betting, but I think Bob Olinger is the one to back in this. I think he's a very good horse.

I stood in the stand on the day when this lad finished second to Ferny Hollow and I have never been as impressed by two horses in my life. The pace and strength in that finish was something very special and I'm convinced it's the best piece of form in the novice hurdle division this season. It's just a real pity Ferny Hollow got injured and couldn't back that up also!

Brown Advisory Novices' Chase 1.55pm - Monkfish

I've no interest in finding anything else in this race, I just can't see Monkfish beaten. He's a real level above

He has been doing everything really easily all season, and that's a fair horse in Latest Exhibition that he has been beating. I actually finished second behind him on his first start over fences, I rode a horse called ontheslopes that day. I thought my lad actually ran to a high mark, he'll be one in handicaps at some point, but Monkfish was just another level altogether. Everything about him is pure class and I think he's good enough now to go close in a Gold Cup. Barring an accident, he should win this easily.

Coral Cup 2.30pm - Janika

As tough a handicap as there is and while there is a few fancied horses here, I quite like the look of Janika at big odds.

He's a really classy horse who has shown his true ability over fences such as when chasing home Siruh Du Lac in the plate off 156. He runs in this off 145 over hurdles and should improve a lot for that last run. 33/1 is a very big price.

The Queen Mother Champion Chase 3.05pm - Chacun Pour Soi

This is always a great race, but Chacun Pour Soi should take a lot of stopping and looks a banker.

I really thought if any horse here was going to lower the colours of Chacun Pour Soi that it would be Altior, so I'm far more confident now. Our lad is simply the best of these, he'll love Cheltenham and he should find this easy enough really.

Cross Country Chase 3.40pm - Easysland

Not a race for me really as I can never make sense of the form at all, but visually Easysland was very impressive last year and if he's in the same form as last year he'll be hard to beat

Like everyone else I really love Tiger Roll and I hope he can show his true colours. At the very least I just hope he comes back sound.

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual 4.15pm - Bun Doran

A really interesting renewal here, but one at massive odds who I think will go well is Bun Doran at 28/1.

He is priced up by the bookmakerslike he has lost a leg, but you don't have to go back that far to find some very strong form and he loves it here at Cheltenham. Last year he was 2nd in the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the year before that he was 2nd in this race off only 2 pounds lower. He is only 10 years old and he's falling back down the handicap, he could surprise a few.

Champion Bumper 4.50pm - Kilcruit

This is a class bumper, that from a win point of view is probably between Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard.

It's a tough race for me to pick one as my Grandmother bred Kilcruit and a good friend of mine who passed away bred Sir Gerhard, Picking one in this won't be easy! I do however know Kilcruit very well as I rode him out at home for most of the season and I loved him. He should take a lot of stopping and mentally I think he has what it takes. Hollow Games is one I like each way as he's improving all the time.
