2016 Gaming Intelligence Awards Announced: Numerous Gambling.com Partners Crowned

Gaming Intelligence has finally crowned their 2016 Gaming Intelligence Awards winners with a wealth of those winning operators and suppliers featured right here at Gambling.com.

The Gaming Intelligence Awards (GIAs) are awarded each year to the top performers of the previous year in the online gambling industry. Awards for products of the year are presented alongside the top product software suppliers. We previewed the nominations earlier in this week highlighting that some of our trusted partners and suppliers made the list. Well, fortunately for a few of those trusted partners, they capitalized on those nominations taking home the crown for their respective category.

The Gaming Intelligence Awards

The GIAs are annually conducted in the beginning of each year close to the start of February. The awards are given to the top operators and suppliers in the online gaming industry, representing their accomplishments from the previous year; so this year the awards represent the winners' success throughout 2015. The 2016 Awards were held at London’s Excel Centre during the famed 'ICE Totally Gaming' conference.

This year's awards featured a few new comers including the Swedish based Leo Vegas Casino, whom took home the always coveted 'Casino Operator of the Year' award, and a few familiar faces with Scientific Games taking home their second-straight 'Lottery Supplier of the Year' crown. Gaming Intelligence Editor-in-Chief, Bobby Mamudi, explained the 2016 award winners, new and returning, were as impressive as any year:

"It is great to see some of the industry’s most established operators and suppliers continue to lead the way through strong technological innovation and an unwavering focus on better serving their customers. It is equally impressive to see the impact that relative newcomers have had on the industry. Congratulations to all our very deserving winners and huge thanks to our panel of judges for their invaluable contribution."

2016 Highlights

Although each award category warrants some attention, it's fair to say some categories are held above the rest. One the most popular and highly coveted awards each year is the 'Casino Operator of the Year' award, which isn't all that surprising considering online casino play is far more popular than some of the lesser known categories like Daily Fantasy Sports (which only operates in the United States and Canada).

Leo Vegas Bursts Onto Scene

Leo Vegas has long been known as the premier mobile gambling provider, garnering a wealth of awards to prove it as well as holding multiple records for largest mobile jackpots ever won. But it wasn't their mobile offerings that got them to this award, instead their entire casino offering has everyone buzzing.

Leo Vegas' casino offering was crowned the top casino operator of 2015, the first of probably many GIAs for Leo Vegas and their stellar line of products. They battled the veteran Betfair Casino as well as fellow relative new-comer, ComeOn! Casino but were able to pull ahead and take home the crown.

Playtech and Its Subsidiaries Clean Up

Playtech has long been consider one of, if not the top online gaming supplier. Their popularity and success over the years have afforded the company the opportunity to expand and acquire product specific subsidiaries to assist in the software giant's distribution of quality services. Playtech and their topnotch divisions had a successful day at the GIAs taking home two product supplier awards.

Although Playtech missed out on the always sought-after 'Casino Supplier of the Year' award - that went to rival NetEnt - they and their subsidiaries were able to secure both the 'Poker Supplier of the Year' and 'Bingo Supplier of the Year' awards.

Gala Coral Flexes Muscles

Playtech wasn't the only company to walk away with multiple awards; the online gambling titan, Gala Coral (owners of all Coral, Gala, and Ladbrokes products), took home two awards as well. One of their bingo offerings, Coral Bingo, was crowned tops among online bingo operators while the Gala Coral company as a whole took home the newest award added to the GIAs, 'Socially Responsible Operator of the Year'.
