If you're a Bet365 customer in the UK, you can now get your hands on your winnings in an instant, thanks to the operator's recent deal with Australian payment processor Emerchants. Following an undisclosed deal between the two parties, Bet365 is now set to offer fully branded cash cards to its British sports betting, casino and poker players.
Extending a partnership that's seen bet365 harness the power of Emerchants' payment cards in Australia since August of last year, the new UK payment cards will allow customers to get instant, real-time access to their bankroll.
Traditional payment processing methods in the iGaming world, such as credit, debit and eWallet withdrawals, often take between two and five days to process. This delay in banking a win – and actually realising the benefit of that win – is something that's famously frustrated iGaming fans.
Over the last few years, however, payment processors such as Emerchants have made it possible for players to get direct access to their funds via ATMs. Acting in the same way as a regular debit card, Emerchants' cards allow users to key in a pin code and withdraw money from their iGaming account.
As well as giving its customers access to instant fund withdrawals, Bet365's new Emerchant cards will utilise EachWay technology, allowing users to send funds to their online accounts. To ensure the system was suitable for the UK market, Bet365 rolled out the new payment cards in Emerchants' native Australia for eight months before extending the deal to its UK customer base.
Although the full details of the deal have been kept under wraps, shares in Emerchants Ltd jumped up by 22.7% to A$1.24 (£0.66) per share following the announcement of the deal.
As well starting the new year off right by giving its customers in the UK a better way to access their online funds, Bet365 continues to dominate the Italian sports betting market in 2016.
According to a recent report by Agimeg.it, Bet365's €346.2 million (£275.9 million) revenue accounted for 35.7% of Italy's €970 million (£773.1 million) sports betting revenue in the first quarter of 2016.
In fact, that figure was more than three times the amount collected by Bet365's closest rival, Gala Coral's Eurobet (€101.3 million/£80.7 million). The news that Bet365 is still dominating in the Italian market, which has been suffering in certain iGaming sections recently due to increased taxation, will be music to the ears of the top executives at Bet365.
With revenue continuing to trend upwards in Italy, Bet365 is now seeking to reinvest some of those funds in the UK market by opening its first satellite technology office in Manchester.
Currently recruiting up to 70 members of staff to support its development team, Bet365 will be hoping to harness the city’s reputation as a technology hub in order to grow its brand in the UK, by using the new office to support various aspects of its European platforms.
"We will start in the areas where we have the work backlog but the remote office will be a great opportunity to extend resource across each of our product areas," explained head of software development, Dom Hawley.
