Evolution’s Dual Play Roulette Heads to Grosvenor Casinos

The digital evolution of gaming continues as live dealer specialist Evolution Gaming has further extended its presence in the UK casino industry. Dual Play Roulette has been installed at ‘The Vic’ casino in London (also more formally known as Grosvenor Casino The Victoria, London, owned by Rank Group).

The game allows online players to play the same table as customers in the casino itself, thanks to a multi-camera system. The move comes after Evolution installed the game at Genting Resorts World in Birmingham back in September. James Stern, director of business development and land-based sales for Evolution, said:

"As part of Rank Group, Grosvenor is the UK’s largest multi-channel casino operator. The Vic, as one of the largest and longest-established casinos in the UK, is a natural choice of venue to showcase the unique attraction that is Dual Play Roulette."

Key Convergence

Key convergence is the term both casinos and gaming providers use to describe the blending of customer bases. The idea behind Dual Play Roulette, a live roulette variant, is essentially a simple one: Allow players physically present in the casino to be able to play with online gamers as well, at the same time, on the same table.

Simple in theory perhaps, but it's only in recent years that both casinos and online gaming companies have started to explore the reality. This is partly due to technology and the cost of implementation, but also demand.

Considering the online gambling market in the UK alone is now worth in the region of £4.5 billion as of last year, it makes sense for online providers and casinos to move with the times. This is perhaps even more pertinent for casinos, who are no doubt keen to get a slice of the online market for themselves where possible. As Stern summarised:

"This builds on Grosvenor’s existing online offering – a dedicated, branded environment at our Malta studios with native speaking English dealers on several of the Grosvenor tables. It also opens up the opportunity for dealers at those dedicated Grosvenor online tables to make players aware of the Dual Play Roulette option and to encourage and incentivise those players to visit the physical venue."

Evolution Gaming's Steady Growth

Specialists in live gaming for online players, Evolution has a number of studios for its live casinos in Malta and Riga in Latvia, and has continued to make successful and innovative headway into the mobile and online gaming market since 2012. Its experience with live casinos goes back to 2006.

Dual Play Roulette was first showcased in Malta in 2015, at the Dragonara Casino. Evolution then worked with The Ritz Club and The Hippodrome (which now has a world class online casino accompanying the brick-and-mortar casino) in London to bring the Dual Play experience to the UK, where it has continued to expand the scheme.

Its ongoing success as a live casino game provider has put it in a solid position (it has won EGR Live Casino Supplier eight years in a row) when it comes to working with land-based casinos, who know they have to find ways of encouraging and promoting a physical presence in their venues.

Physical casinos are also taking a close look at tapping in to the increasingly lucrative online market flurshing over the last decade or more. Dual Play Roulette is likely to be just the start of what is set to become an increasingly beneficial relationship for casinos and Evolution, a move both wil benefit from moving forward.

Grosvenor Casinos' Role

As one of the largest casino operators in the UK, Grosvenor has already made moves into the online gaming arena with the budding Grosvenor Online Casino. It has one of the most popular and recognisable poker sites paired with the casino site, as well as live games, much like Evolution.

The move to incorporate key convergence is a forward-thinking one, and we're likely to see more casinos adopt this approach in the coming years. Because gamers can not only play at the table, but also online from different locations in the casino itself, it adds a new dimension to the whole casino experience.

This is important, as it could help to drive and increase revenue. Grosvenor is owned by Rank Group, which also operates the Mecca Bingo chain. It hasn't been completely smooth sailing for it this year, as back in August the company saw a dip in share value. The 3.53% drop came hand in hand with a loss of revenue.

It is not alone of course, and much of this can be attributed to the ever-increasing importance of online gaming. The recent partnership with Evolution makes sense for both parties, and Rank Group can only gain by diversifying gaming options! To enjoy Duel Play Roulette, head over to Grosvenor today!
