A new original slot title inspired by retro video games has been unveiled by iSoftBet. Mega Boy, which invites slot players to revisit "the golden age of 16-bit video gaming", will be available on both desktop and mobile platforms. Gamers with fond memories of Nintendo's Game Boy and classic consoles like the Sega Mega Drive will no doubt enjoy the world of Mega Boy, which pays tribute to the era of cartridge-based video games with a range of 2D graphics, nostalgic sounds and pixelated characters.
The Mega Boy slot game is the third original slot launched by the company in 2016, following the introduction of the zodiac sign-themed Astro Magic game at the beginning of the year and Luxury Rome HD, which arrived in February. It further extends a slot portfolio that also contains branded titles such as 24, a game based on the iconic TV series about the exploits of heroic counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer.
iSoftBet partnered with 21st Century Fox to launch its 24 slot in September 2015. Other branded titles in the company's growing portfolio include games based on hit movies such as Basic Instinct, Rambo, Platoon and The Warriors. iSoftBet has a portfolio of online casino games that now contains more than 400 titles.
Despite its retro appearance, iSoftBet has packed Mega Boy with "innovative features". Perhaps inspired by the much-loved gaming characters that found fame during the 16-bit era, such as Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Boy includes two special characters that trigger special game modes when they appear on the middle row of the third reel.
In keeping with the video game theme, each special mode contains a selection of 'power-ups' such as expanding wilds, multipliers and wild transformations. With the London-based game creator adding another original title to its range, head of sales Luci Apostolou described Mega Boy as:
"a true testament to the innovation and expertise of our in-house development team. The feedback we've received so far on our latest release has been fantastic and we're looking forward to seeing Mega Boy perform across our operator base."
Mega Boy was officially previewed on the iSoftBet stand at ICE 2016 in February. Visitors to the London gaming exhibition had a chance to play the game before its release, as well as trying out other iSoftBet slot titles such as the popular Neon Reels.
ICE 2016 was hailed as a great success for iSoftBet, which said its appearance at the event was "the best yet". In a note published on its website, the company described the exhibition as "the perfect opportunity to catch up with our valued existing customers and make those all-important connections for the year ahead".
iSoftBet is also due to appear at G2E Asia in May and the EiG expo, which takes place in Berlin across three days in October. The new game will now be rolled out across iSoftBet customers, including Paddy Power Casino and Leo Vegas Casino. A playable demo can also be found on the iSoftBet website.
