One of the biggest poker tournaments ever held in Europe is officially set for this spring in Barcelona, Spain. Hosted by online gaming titan PartyPoker, The MILLIONS Grand Final promises to bring unprecedented levels of excitement to the Casino Barcelona April 7-15. Partypoker President John Duthie promises participants a staggering €23m in Guaranteed Prize Money spread out over nine events rounding out an extraordinary 7-day schedule that has critics raving!
The action starts Saturday, April 7 with a €1,100 buy-in, €1m Guaranteed MILLIONS Open including four starting flights. Five high roller events will be featured, touting €10m in guaranteed prizes. The 7th and 8th will see two single-day €25k events play out, followed by a €50k event on the 9th, €100k on the 10th and a €10k on the 11th.
Additionally, serving as the appetizer to the main course, the three-day €1m GTD MILLIONS Grand Final Warm-up will be available for a €2,500 buy-in and one permitted re-entry. Finally, the pièce de résistance arrives on the 11th as the €10,300, €10m Guaranteed Main Event gets underway with the first of four flights.
Ultimately, the winner of the tournament's main event will take home €1.4 million at minimum, while the runner-up will score €1.2 million and finally third-place prize will be €1 million. Rounding out the week is a €1,100 unlimited re-entry Finale, while cash games will be available all weekend.
PartyPoker is no stranger to putting on premier tournaments. As recent as a few days ago, a player took home a pot of $500,000 (€423,800) at the partypoker 2018 MILLIONS Germany series at King's Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Last October the overall 2018 MILLIONS schedule was released and poker fanatics can expect from the series upwards of $100,000,000 in Guaranteed Prize prize pools.
With stops planned in Canada (April 21-29 at Playground Poker Club), Russia (August 4-12 in Sochi), the United Kingdom (September 20-October 9 at Dusk Till Dawn) and the Caribbean (November 10-18) there is plenty of action all across the globe planned for this year alone. Additionally, Canada and the Caribbean stops will match the whopping $10 million Guaranteed Prize pool promised at Barcelona.
Raúl Horta, Casino Barcelona’s Poker Manager, anticipates the event will go gangbusters and help further establish the casino as one of the world’s poker capitals.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the inaugural partypoker Millions Grand Final, the festival with the highest guaranteed prizepool in the history of poker tournaments ever held in Europe. Every lover of the game considers Casino Barcelona as one of the world capitals of poker, so who could think of a better venue to fit such an amazing event. For Casino Barcelona, this new festival will be a challenge, taking in account the size of it. However we are convinced that our drive and effort will make this festival a resounding success, a truly unique series of tournaments tailored for the most demanding players, and we want to provide them with the very best.”
Partypoker chairman Mike Sexton and ambassadors Ike Haxton, Sam Trickett, Jason Koon, Joao Simao, Fedor Holz and Roberto Romanello are all confirmed to attend while Paul Newey, Leon Tsoukernik and Rob Yong will be taking part in several of the high roller events.
For those who can’t cough up the big bucks, the My partypoker LIVE website and smartphone app will provide a live stream broadcasting all the action complete with commentary featuring Jesse May and Mikhail Semin in three languages. Poker fanatics can also try to qualify for the main events on partypoker.com.
Additionally 225 Main Event seats will be prizes for the taking in five live super-satellites at the Casino Barcelona. Regardless of whether you're actually playing in the event or just enjoying the action as spectator, this year's MILLIONS Grand Final is going to be absolutely epic!
