SpreadEx is a site built on the concept of spread betting, meaning that instead of betting on the specific outcome of a sporting event, you’re profiting or losing more depending on the amount of goals, points, etc in the event..
Founded in 1999 by former City trader, Jonathan Hufford, SpreadEx started off in financial trading and expanded to include sportsbook in 2006. The site now also offers slots, however sportsbook is the premier offering here. In relation to sports betting and casino, Spreadex Ltd is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the UK Gambling Commission, and by Alderney Gambling Control Commission outside of the UK.
Although largely based around spread betting, SpreadEx also offers fixed odds betting on thousands of events.

SpreadEx operates a generous welcome offer of up to £20 in Free Bets. To avail of this, simply place a £10 fixed odds bet at minimum odds of 1/2 or greater and you will then receive 2 x £10 Free fixed odds single bets, with each free bet being applied to your account on consecutive days.
To register you’ll need to provide some basic details like your name, email address and your chosen username and password. There are detailed terms and conditions which you’ll need to accept before creating your account, so be sure to read them thoroughly. You’ll need to provide all of your addresses for the past three years for verification purposes and also specify your employment status and annual income, as well as providing your identification documents. This is a longer process than most online betting sites but is necessary due to the additional risks associated with spread betting.
There are a number of different payment methods available and you can make a deposit within your account section or by contacting the customer support team. You can deposit using Visa, MasterCard or Maestro; bank transfers; cheques; or direct debit. A £1 fee may be charged on card deposits under £50.
On the main SpreadEx site, you’ll be directed to either financials or sportsbook. It’s immediately evident that this site was created by consummate professionals - it’s sleek, extremely well designed and there are no frills.
You can view your account and balance at the top of the page and can make changes to your account by accessing the link in the top right hand corner. Also at the top of the page when logged in, you’ll be able to navigate easily between sports, casino and financials if you wish.
In the sportsbook section, there are handy drop down menus allowing you to refine events by those currently in play, or by the main sports like football horse racing, cricket, tennis and golf. You’ll find all of the most popular events in the sidebar to the left on the screen and moving sliders will keep you informed about the biggest matches.
You current bets are always displayed in a box on the right of the screen and you can view all of your fixed odds bets on your betslip, so you never lose track. Your bet slip can also pop out into a more detailed view, where you can see your spread bets, fixed odds and financial bets all at the same time.
A mobile site is available to use with your normal mobile browser and essentially this looks and feels like a simplified version of the desktop site. A much more preferable way to play is via the mobile app which is available from the App Store or Play Store on your iOS or Android device. The app allows Face ID, Touch ID or PIN login and you can even watch matches while you bet, using live streaming.
SpreadEx offers betting on almost 20 different sports, including:
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
In addition, there are more other sports like UFC and darts; plus virtual sports and even politics.
There are up to 150 different markets available for major sports. For example you can bet on total goals, bookings, corner and last match goal in football.
SpreadEx offers you the choice to make use of the spread betting option, or bet using fixed odds. If you use fixed odds here, you’ll get similar odds to other major online sports betting sites; while when you opt for spread betting, conventional odds don’t apply and you stand can stand to win or lose more than your original stake - depending on how correct your prediction was.
Spread betting is the most prominent feature of SpreadEx. Allowing you to bet on the price movements of the financial market, in order to predict whether the event will finish higher or lower than the 'spread' on offer, you stand to win large amounts of money, the more correct your prediction is. Spread betting is also available on sportsbook, meaning, for example, you can back over 2.5 goals for a set price, and once the 3rd goal goes in, you're in profit. Every additional goal thereafter in the game boosts your profit.
You can choose to view odds on decimal or fractional format, so you can customise your experience based on what you prefer. Most markets start with a minimum stake of 1p, with the exception of some less volatile markets which start at 15p. You can see the minimum on your betslip before placing the bet.
You can use the exciting in play section to place bets on events that are currently in progress. You’ll see the most popular events at the top of the page and you can choose whether you place a spread bet or fixed odds bet on whatever match you choose. You can keep track of the event in real time in order to better inform your bets and increase your chances of a profit.
The 'bet-builder' feature allows you to create your own bet by combining a number of different markets on the same event, all with different odds and increasing the amount you could stand to win. You can make use of the cash out feature, which allows you to take the current value of your bet either to take a profit or cut a loss. You can avail of this feature by using the one-click cash out tick box in the current bets section. A special feature currently only available on mobile is My Teams, which allows you to follow selected teams and view all upcoming events in which they are taking part.
In addition to the welcome offer, there are several ongoing promotions that players can enjoy. For example if you’re a regular sports spread better, you’ll have the chance to get some spread-free bets, in which you’ll bet at the mid-point of the spread rather than the top or bottom. You’ll also receive a risk-free £100 Total Goals spread bet for any active referrals - so keep telling your friends to sign up!
You can get in touch with the dedicated sports support team 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They’re available by freephone in the UK as well as via landline from elsewhere in the world, or you can get in touch via email. The customer service team is available 7 days a week from 8am to 5.30pm for any other queries. In addition there is a comprehensive FAQ section where you’ll be able to find in depth information on spread betting plus other topics like deposits and technical issues.
SpreadEx is extremely dedicated to providing a safe experience for players and it is made abundantly clear from the outset that players should not be signing up unless they understand the risks associated with spread betting. Players can set deposit limits via the account section or by contacting customer service; take a timeout for a specified period; or you can request a self-exclusion up to a period of five years, to block access to your account.
Spread betting is certainly something different, but SpreadEx does it extremely well. Even if you’re less familiar with the concept, SpreadEx offers and environment where you can explore and find your feet before deciding whether or not you’d like to play with real money. If you’re looking to take a deep dive into the world of spread betting, this is absolutely the place to do it.Visit Spreadex Betting
