EnergyBet is one of a number of new and exciting online bookmakers to the industry over the last few years. The company was launched in 2016 and since then have gone on to become a real force, even in a sector that is so massively saturated.
One of the hardest things for companies like EnergyBet to achieve is that of industry recognition. There are dozens of bookmakers that are set up just like EnergyBet, so to see that they have been recognised at some of the biggest industry awards, is mightily impressive.
The company that oversees EnergyBet is Probe Investments Limited and whilst this is their only brand to date, the success that both the sportsbook and the casino has had will no doubt encourage them to expand even further.
EnergyBet has been able to secure several sponsorship deals as well. These include official sponsor of Leyton Orient FC and also sleeve sponsor of Millwall FC.
When you register a new account at EnergyBet you are going to be able to get a 100% match on your opening deposit worth up to £50. To claim the bonus, you need to select this when you sign up for your account.
The bonus will need to be wagered through 10 times before you can withdraw it. Only bets placed on accumulators with 3 or more picks at minimum odds of 2.00 will count towards this offer. You get 30 days to clear the full bonus before any remaining bonus will be removed from your account.
EnergyBet is great for offers and the promotions tab is constantly changing. Here are some of our favourites:
Energy Boost – Boost acca winnings on bets of 4 or more picks up a maximum of 25% on top of your original winnings.
Weekly Acca Offer – If just one leg of your 4+ accumulator bet lets you down, then EnergyBet will refund your bet up to a maximum of £25 within selected markets.
Weekly Goalless Draw – Bet on any Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 or Eredivisie match and if ends 0-0, EnergyBet will refund the bet worth up to £10.
The bookmaker covers a decent range of sports to be fair and you can get access to a boat load of markets within each of those sports. The most notable omittance is that of horse racing, but then this is not uncommon for relatively new bookmakers.
Don't let that put you off though. The usual sports you'd find at a good online bookmaker can be found here. Sports like football, basketball, tennis, cricket and golf. There are also a few curveballs in there that we liked. Field hockey, chess, rally and squash are four sports that you rarely see, even at some of the bigger bookmakers.
The pricing structure has been one of the leading lights for EnergyBet. We've been fairly surprised to see just how good they have been actually, and this is more because they are still pretty young rather than incapable of offering a decent product.
What we will add is that they can be a little inconsistent here, which again is something that we are keen to stress is very normal for younger sportsbooks.
We have to start the feature section talking about the plethora of games that the eSports section includes. This is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the betting industry, so to see a bookmaker like EnergyBet react to this has been impressive.
They can cover a wide range of games on-site, including League of Legends, StarCraft, Call of Duty, DOTA 2 and Counter Strike, to name just a few. Inside each of the games includes several different markets, often depending on the event that is taking place.
EnergyBet has recently been able to add in a cash-out betting function within the sportsbook. You're able to cash out both single and combination bets for a range of markets and sports. It's all accessed from the betting slip and here it will highlight both the price on offer and the cash out button (listed as “Pay-Out”, oddly).
The live betting section is where the heartbeat of the site is. This is also an area that is continuing to grow as the bookmaker grows, with an increase in the number of sports and then markets that move across into here every day.
We liked that there were several different views within the live betting section. These included the conference view, single view and live calendar. Depending on what games you were looking for would dictate which view you found most useful. We found ourselves using the Conference view as this highlighted the games that were taking place right now.
EnergyBet uses the Sports Stats betting statistics program on-site. This links up with the vast majority of sports that they offer markets on and it means you have a ton of information at your fingertips. The stats can range depending on how high profile your match is, but overall, it's a strong addition to the bookmaker and a section that is very much needed for modern-day betting.
Finally, we can't leave this section without talking about the EnergyBet VIP section. It's an invite-only service and is reserved for those betting either a lot in terms of volume or those that are betting high stakes. It's a highly lucrative club and those who are a part of it can take advantage of complementary sporting tickets, technology, gadgets, holidays and also exclusive access to the EnergyShop, where points can be converted into prizes and bonuses.
There is an excellent range of banking methods on offer at EnergyBet. These include ones you can find at any good online sportsbook, like debit card, PayPal, Skrill and Neteller. Other options you don't find as frequently can be used at EnergyBet too, such as Zimpler, Euteller, Exopayz and Entropay.
There are no fees to pay for any parts of the banking process. Deposits start from as little as £10 and withdrawals will also start from the same amount as well. Processing times for withdrawal will range but are between 1 to 5 working days. E-wallets, such as Skrill and Neteller are the fastest way to get your money, with withdrawals being made within the hour.
We have to be honest when we say that EnergyBet is not one of the best-looking sportsbooks that we have tested. It certainly lacks any of the style or polished feel that some of the bigger brands offer and whilst it functions quite well, the colour scheme, lack of search function and also speed of the site can feel a little sluggish.
The main issue is that it's all just a little bit random. The homepage seems to have no structure to it and the “top events” sometimes aren't all that “top” at all, with lower league football matches taking precedent over Champions League games, for example.
Things pick up massively in their mobile offering and it's honestly like night and day here. There is no dedicated app to download, but given the site is based on an HTML 5 platform, it means it functions well on all smartphone and tablet devices.
The mobile site of EnergyBet has a much better layout and you can jump between sports and markets almost instantly. We liked that it had split menus, which is great for those who like to use their phone with just one hand when on the go.
EnergyBet has massively simplified the way that you can register an account with them. You first need to click the “Register” button on the home page, and this will get you started.
The pop-up window will instruct you to enter a username email address and password. You can also enter a bonus code here if you have it, but it's worth noting that you do not need one for the welcome offer above.
Once you've completed this you then need to enter your address and contact information. Please make sure that you enter this exactly as it would be on any identification that you need to send in to verify your account. If it doesn't match or doesn't link, then your account will not be verified.
After this step, you need to send in your documents. This can be done by taking a photo and uploading them. It's an easy process but it can take up to 24 hours before your account has been approved.
This may seem like quite a laborious task, but it's one that is going to be compulsory soon for all bookmakers. We would go as far as saying that this early implementation of the verification process is a good thing from EnergyBet as it highlights their desire to promote responsible gambling.
The customer support on offer has to be one of the highlights of the brand. Whilst there are limitations within the sportsbook, they are as good as you get with their customer service and this is also one of the reasons why they have picked up industry awards.
You can contact them via phone, Live Chat or email. Post is also an option, if you don't mind waiting days or weeks for a response to your query.
Responsible gambling on EnergyBet is something that they are working hard to promote. We spoke earlier about them implementing this as soon as you sign up with account verification, but you can also set account limits within the registration process as well.
They include several features on-site that can help players, such as account closure, time out, self-exclusion, betting limits and session time limits.
There's a lot to like at EnergyBet and considering they have only been about a few years, have made some positive strides. They offer up a ton of promotions once you are through the door and their attention to detail with niche sports such as eSports is second to none.
There are some flaws though and the design of the desktop site needs to be looked at. However, the betting app is a great alternative and we found ourselves spending most of our time here as a result.
EnergyBet has some bumps to iron out, but they are an online bookmaker on the up and one to watch over the next few years.
"I've worked in the betting industry on product, operations and customer service for several years. A class operator will deliver on many aspects and we cover them all."
