Some requirements apply: The minimum odds of your sports wager must be -200 or longer (such as, -180, -150, +120, +160, etc.); the offer expires seven days after opting in; once the free bet is credited to your account after your qualifying bet settles, the total amount of the free bet must be used on one wager; if that wager wins then the profits become eligible for withdrawal; the free-bet credit expires after 14 days of receipt.
The app presents players essentially the mobile version of its sportsbook website layout. There aren't many glaring differences in how the navigation are configured between the Golden Nugget app and desktop sportsbook. The app is available for Android and iOS devices as well. The New Jersey version downloads quickly, as in under 10 seconds, while the Michigan version takes around a minute.
The app is billed as "Golden Nugget Online Casino," which can create some confusion for players looking for the sportsbook. But worry not, the Golden Nugget sportsbook is folded into the same app. It will default to the casino when you open it but both states' versions have a prominent tab to switch to the sportsbook.
Once you're using either of these sports betting apps, there's consistently minimal to no lag time for bet slip population when selecting wagers or for navigating from page to page. A couple areas that do take more time, and we're splitting hairs here, are loading the app and switching to the sportsbook.
The Golden Rewards Club awards players points for every wager a customer makes. Points accumulate for Golden Nugget sportsbook and casino bets. Customers are automatically enrolled in this program upon account creation. Players can redeem $1 cash for every 100 points accrued. Points are earned in the following ways:
A progress bar in your account will track the points you accrue on the type of sports wagers or casino games you play such as slots and table games. As you earn points, your ranking will increase, as will more lucrative benefits such as exclusive bonuses, free bets and enhanced customer support. Higher ranking also allows points to be earned at a faster rate, further accelerating your status within the club.
The Golden Nugget sportsbook is live online in the state, which was the first state in which The Golden Nugget landed its online casino product in partnership with the land-based Golden Nugget Atlantic City Hotel, Casino & Marina (600 Huron Ave., Atlantic City, NJ 08401). That site is a close second in popularity to the land-based operation in Las Vegas. The Golden Nugget sportsbook launched on March 24, 2021 and is licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
The Golden Nugget sportsbook launched in Michigan on Jan. 22, 2021 and is licensed and regulated by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The Golden Nugget online sportsbook partnered with two land-based casinos in Michigan: the Ojibwa Casino in Marquette (105 Acre Trail, Marquette, MI 49855) and Baraga (16449 Michigan Ave, Baraga, MI 49908).
The Golden Nugget sportsbook offers all major professional and collegiate sports to wager on with at least a dozen total sports markets that include international leagues for a good type of sports selection.
The sportsbook homepage has an organized section that lists each sport for easy access to popular leagues in the United States like the NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, PGA Tour and UFC. Each of these markets also include a large catalog of betting options once you've selected a league and chosen a specific game or event. For example, NBA games list point spread, moneyline and total points in the main section, plus over 50 more betting options for that one game, which are visible once you select the extended offerings from the game listing.
Golden Nugget also includes niche markets like Aussie Rules and Rugby League in its overall sports markets.
Golden Nugget sports odds are on par with other reputable, mainstream sportsbooks. Of course, these vary slightly from book to book, and the Golden Nugget sportsbook odds play within these slight variances.
For example, odds on first-round leader Justin Rose to win the 2021 Masters were listed at +400 at Golden Nugget and DraftKings. FanDuel listed Rose at +380 to win the tournament after the first round and BetMGM had the worst odds at +350. This is an example of how the Golden Nugget plays within good market value regardless of sport as the sportsbook lists the best odds on this specific wager compared to three other reputable sportsbooks.
The Golden Nugget sportsbook also releases next-day odds in a timely manner. For example, as of early evening on a given day, Golden Nugget had the full slate of MLB game odds listed for the next day. Furthermore, Golden Nugget had the most lucrative moneyline on the underdog Tampa Bay Rays to beat the New York Yankees. Golden Nugget listed the Rays at +120, as did DraftKings. FanDuel opened the Rays at +116 and BetMGM, again, had the worst odds for this specific matchup, listing the Rays at +105 at the same time as the other sportsbooks.
Again, this is one example on a particular game, but it highlights the pattern we found in researching this sportsbook review of the Golden Nugget sportsbook listing arguably the best lines no matter the sport or the bet.
The Golden Nugget has a good sports selection in that it offers most sports markets and extensively highlights the United States' most popular leagues. Types of bets the Golden Nugget sportsbook has for its users are moneylines, point spreads and totals, and game and player props. There are also point races such as the first team to reach a given number of points, half winners, and numerous other bets for almost any game, especially if the game is within a popular league - most markets that the online sportsbook offers are popular leagues.
Casino contests and promotions vastly outweigh sports contests and promotions for this online sportsbook. The one promotion the Golden Nugget currently runs is its $250 risk-free bet. Comparing the Golden Nugget to, say, DraftKings for contests is unfair because DraftKings is the leader. But the fact the Golden Nugget doesn't run any contests is a shame since it offers users many other perks and promotions. The potential is there. The Golden Nugget just needs to address this area of need, and the online sportsbook would be that much better.
The fact it already does this on the casino side gives hope it will on the sportsbook side sometime soon, especially since its online sportsbook operations in Michigan and New Jersey are fairly new.
The Golden Nugget sportsbook is one of the best online, rivaling other major operators such as DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM. When it comes to certain facets, this sportsbook stacks up to the upper echelon of competition. Looking beyond the straight bet, we found when conducting our review that the Golden Nugget checks many boxes regarding features it provides its users.
Sportsbook Golden Nugget offers live updates to bet the point spread, moneyline odds and total points as games are going on. Users can scan the board from the "Live Now" tab on the homepage. Users who live bet then have the advantage to place wagers on more profitable moneyline odds, spread bets and point totals, hinging on what's happening in the game at the time of the bet. The sportsbook uses a computer algorithm to constantly tweak the odds in real time -something unavailable in a physical sportsbook in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. The feature keeps players engaged in a game and is becoming one of the most popular ways to bet in markets with online sports betting.
Before a game goes final, users of the online sportsbook can cash out a bet early. The cash-out option allows users to net a profit if the bet is winning and wish to not wait for the final result. Conversely, if it's a losing bet, this option allows users to recoup money from the original amount before potentially losing it all. A cash-out eligible bet will show this option once the wager is placed and the money available to be cashed out is displayed before and during the game. The money amount will fluctuate as the game progresses. Be aware that not all wagers are eligible.
The Golden Nugget has exclusive “Golden Lines” odds boosts. These boosts allow players to gain more profit on their winning wagers through enhanced odds. There's an extensive variety for sports betting on these "Golden Lines," and users can categorize by sports the catalog of odds boosts. One drawback to these odds boosts that Golden Nugget has is that the online sportsbook doesn't show the original odds, like some other sportsbooks do, which makes it very difficult for sports bettors to know the true value of the "boost" since they can't see the original odds compared to the boosted number. Transparency for odds boosts is always preferred.
Golden Nugget sports betting allows its players to select multiple wagers on the same game in a single parlay bet. Players can do this through the parlay builder. A same-game parlay offers a multitude of combinations, ranging from traditional bets such as point spread, moneyline and total points, to game and player props. Any combination a user can think of, however, is not allowed. As you add sports events to your bet slip and select the parlay option, the slip will notify you if the combo isn't allowed. Wagers on same-game parlays usually require specific minimum odds to qualify.
Just like at a retail sportsbook, there are many bet types allowed for Golden Nugget sports betting. Along with live betting, odds boosts and parlay betting, the Golden Nugget has all mainstream wagers such as point spread, moneyline, point total, teasers and game and player props.
The big three promotions the Golden Nugget has for sports betting are: the $250 risk-free bet, "Golden Lines" daily odds boosts and parlay boost. A parlay boost requires a minimum of three legs, and with each added leg, the boost percentage will increase by that number. For example, a three-leg parlay equals a 3% boost. A four-leg parlay is 4%, and so on all the way up to a 20-leg parlay. Minimum odds for any three-plus leg parlay to qualify for the boost are -145 or greater (-130, +110, etc.).
The Golden Nugget user experience is top-notch and convenient, whether on the desktop and Golden Nugget app. Whether you're using either platform, it doesn't take much acclimation to navigate and correctly use. The online sportsbook Golden Nugget is neatly organized with tabs for sports, leagues and promotions as well as pertinent options related to your account and bonuses. Tabs for rewards, banking methods and customer service and customer support pages are prominently displayed atop the homepage on both the desktop and Golden Nugget sports app platforms.
Golden Nugget sportsbook has live chat, phone and email options available for New Jersey and Michigan residents and visitors who use its product and need customer service. Live chat is the most direct, accessible and fastest line of communication, although, phone customer support is a close second to email response. All three options are accessible from any page on desktop or mobile app.

Golden Nugget provides its customers with a plethora of resources to gamble responsibly and has helpful tools should customers need it to prevent falling into any gambling pitfalls. These resources are highlighted by the problem gambling hotline and self-exclusion. On a smaller scale, customers can set deposit, loss and time limits through their account.
The Golden Nugget homepage features a tab for Responsible Gaming, which centralizes all the resources Golden Nugget offers in its effort to ensure its players are using its product the way it was intended.
A review of the Golden Nugget sportsbook yields a great variety of markets, bonuses and three strong promotions. The sports betting catalog offers more than enough for players to find what they're looking for and the loyalty/ rewards program is designed for player engagement. Make no mistake, the Golden Nugget is more casino-oriented compared to what it offers for sports betting incentives, but the Golden Nugget doesn't lack on the sports side.
For New Jersey and Michigan players, be it residents or visitors, online casino gaming is legal in both states. This, coupled with legal sports betting offered in both states, makes opening an account with the Golden Nugget a smart decision. We found that while the sports betting side of Golden Nugget stands on its own merits, having access to all those table and slot games is a nice perk, too, giving the Golden Nugget sportsbook rating a bump.
