Borgata Spring Poker Tournaments Offer $3.5 Million Plus
Over $3.5 million will be up for grabs in the Borgata Spring Poker Open that begins next month at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, N.J.
The BSPO runs April 2 through April 19, consisting of 22 events including two individual events with $1 million guarantees.
The tournament features a variety of games, including No-limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and H.O.S.E. It is held in the poker room at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
Two BSPO Events Have $1M Guarantees
The two BSPO events with $1 million guarantees are the Deepstack Kick-Off and the Spring Poker Open Championship. The Deepstack Kick-Off is April 2-6 with a $540+$60 buy-in; the Spring Poker Open Championship is April 15-19 with a $2,500+$200 buy-in.
The Borgata Spring Poker Open Championship final table will be livestreamed with format details to be announced at a later date.
Among the other noteworthy tournaments: The Almighty Stack (April 9-12), with $500,000 in guarantees and a $450 buy-in; Saturday Series events (April 6 and 12), with $100,000 guaranteed and a $400 buy-in; and the Black Chip Deepstack Bounty (April 5), with a guarantee of $100,000 and a $500 buy-in. That’s not even including various online poker options.
The 22 tournaments have buy-ins ranging from $180 to $2,700. Players also can enter bounty tournaments and other assorted events. Additionally, there will be a ladies event and a seniors event.
Daily online satellite tournaments for players in New Jersey will run on BorgataPoker.com from March 17 through April 15. Among the prizes is a chance for players to win a guaranteed seat in the Deepstack Kick-Off event, and the chance for players to win a seat in the Spring Poker Open Championship. Some of these qualifiers have buy-ins as low as $5.
Almedin Imsirovic, 24, won the main event of the 2018 Borgata Spring Poker Open Championship. Imsirovic beat a field consisting of 519 entries to win $246,066.
Imsirovic had only been playing professional poker for a year and a half, according to the Borgata Poker blog. Runner-up Farid Jattin pocketed $243,521.
BSPO is Signature Poker Event for Atlantic City
The BSPO is regarded as one of the major poker tournaments in the northeast United States, and one of the signature ones in Atlantic City. The Borgata, an MGM Resorts International property, annually hosts two World Poker Tour stops, plus several other major tournaments. The Borgata, an MGM Resorts International property, is the top-grossing casino in Atlantic City.
Part of the BSPO’s popularity stems from offering events to players with big or small budgets. Tournaments with lower buy-ins offer total prizes between $20,000 and $150,000.
