Sports fans can choose from a wealth of high-profile events when a new age of legal sports betting in Connecticutgets underway this week.

We have rounded up the five sporting events that we are most excited to bet on at FanDuel Sportsbook, DraftKings and SugarHouse.

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots

The Jets will head to Foxborough for the second game of the season against the Patriots in what will make for an interesting NFL betting option.

New York rookie quarterback Zach Wilson threw four interceptions when these teams met at the MetLife Stadium in Week 2, as the Pats eased to a 25-6 win.

The Jets have done a better job of protecting the rookie quarterback since that game. In the first three games of the season Wilson was sacked 15 times. In the past two games, he has been sacked three times.

New England’s rookie quarterback Mac Jones has been very accurate, completing 71% of his passes for 1,472 yards in the first six games.

He might have had his best game in the 19-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tom Brady’s return to Foxborough. Jones completed 31 of 40 passes for 275 yards in that game.

Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants

An interesting game for Connecticut sports betting on its first legal weekend is this will game between two teams that haven’t met since Carolina beat the Giants 33-31 in 2018.

Placekicker Graham Gano’s 63-yard field goal for the Panthers won it that day. Now Gano is with the Giants.

The Panthers have lost three straight after starting 3-0 and the Giants, 1-5, have struggled through injuries to key players, like running back Saquan Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks

A good NBA betting play to make on the first official day in Connecticut. The Milwaukee Bucks will start their title defense by hosting a star-studded Brooklyn Nets team at Fiserv Forum on Tuesday.

Brooklyn enters the season as the odds favorite to win the NBA Title at DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel and SugarHouse, so it will be interesting to see how Kevin Durant and James Harden — and apparently no Kyrie Irving — perform against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co.

It went to Game 7 when the teams met in the playoffs last season, with the Bucks picking up a 115-111 overtime win, so the Nets will be keen to avenge that painful defeat.

Jamel Herring vs. Shakur Stevenson

A good boxing wager to make is on this fight featuring New York-based southpaw Jamel Herring, who will put his WBO junior lightweight belt on the line against the unbeaten Shakur Stevenson in Atlanta on Saturday.

Herring has held the title since 2019, successfully defending his crown against Lamont Roach Jr., Jonathan Oquendo and Carl Frampton, but this could be his toughest defense yet.

Stevenson, who fights out of Newark, previously held the WBO featherweight title and he is regarded as one of the country’s top boxing talents.

Herring and Stevenson have engaged in a war of words on social media, and it will be intriguing to see them lock horns in the ring.

Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of Muhammad Ali, will compete in his second professional fight on the undercard.
