Currently, Iowa has a strict-in-person registration requirement for sports betting. But wagering on games will become more accessible when that requirement ends on Jan. 1, 2021.

Although the mobile handle of $56,886,207 for October was a record, it was just 69.5% of the total handle. New Jersey, which has set national records the past two months for total handle, and Pennsylvania see about 90% of their wagers made online/mobile. Indiana, another Midwest state, saw 86% of its September handle via mobile/online.

When the in-person registration requirement ends, the mobile numbers should increase in January.
