Louisiana Online Sports Betting Launch Getting Closer
When Louisiana online sports betting gets going in the coming weeks, there are several sportsbooks lining up to be part of the landscape.
Here are some questions ahead of the launch.
What’s Happening with the Online and Mobile Sports Betting Launch?
State’s Gaming Control Board's Ronnie Johns, who can sign a “temporary certificate of operation,” which would allow a casino to immediately begin taking sports bets in-person at a retail sportsbook, recently told local press he doesn’t expect to sign any of those waivers soon. The Control Board has a meeting on Oct. 21, so we should get more clarity then.
Louisiana Launch Delayed by Hurricane Ida
It had been anticipated that online sports betting in Louisiana would be up and running near the start of football season, but Hurricane Ida threw a wrench into those plans. Legal sports wagering was anticipated in September, although the storm meant that Gaming Enforcement Division personnel had been directed away from their principal duties.
Land-Based Betting: Paragon Casino Launches Betfred
We have seen some progress made by a number of operators in Louisiana and that includes Betfred Sportsbook being launched at Paragon Casino. Indeed, this Marksville-based operation was the first in the state to debut sports betting. The idea is that customers have the ideal sports betting platform along with a place to enjoy watching the big events.
