When Louisiana online sports betting gets going in the coming weeks, there are several sportsbooks lining up to be part of the landscape.

State’s Gaming Control Board's Ronnie Johns, who can sign a “temporary certificate of operation,” which would allow a casino to immediately begin taking sports bets in-person at a retail sportsbook, recently told local press he doesn’t expect to sign any of those waivers soon. Louisiana Launch Delayed by Hurricane Ida

It had been anticipated that online sports betting in Louisiana would be up and running near the start of football season, but Hurricane Ida threw a wrench into those plans. Legal sports wagering was anticipated in September, although the storm meant that Gaming Enforcement Division personnel had been directed away from their principal duties.
