Online Sports Betting is Live in Florida on Hard Rock App

The Hard Rock Sportsbook on Monday went live for online sports wagering in Florida.

“Game on, Florida,” the sportsbook’s webpage announced, encouraging Floridians to use their smartphones in placing bets.

“Get simple and quick access to the sports you love, and the ones you don't know you love….yet,” the website states. “Join our early access launch to start betting today.”

Five pari-mutuel sites in the state have joined with the Seminole Tribe of Florida in seeking to bring sports betting to the nation’s third-most populous state, behind California and Texas.

Under a Gaming Compact signed in April by Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and Seminole Tribe Chairman Marcellus Osceola Jr., the pari-mutual sites will market the Hard Rock Sportsbook.

Lawsuits have been filed to prevent the Tribe from going live, but those might prove to be unsuccessful.

Bettors will be allowed to place bets in person at the pari-mutuel sites or remotely, using their smartphones or computers.
