After receiving the go-ahead to launch in Virginia, PointsBet, the Australian-based sports betting company, alongside Colonial Downs Group, LLC., the operator of Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums throughout the state, announced that the PointsBet mobile app has launched.

This launch marks the eighth state in which the PointsBet mobile app is available. Including Virginia, the list also includes New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Michigan, and West Virginia.

PointsBet Ambassador Allen Iverson Welcomes App

This is the culmination of numerous events. Not only does this include the Colonial Downs Group, LLC. partnership from late November 2021, but also an August 2020 deal with NBC Sports network and an October 2020 deal with Genius Sports to supply live streaming on games and data for bettors to make live wagers.

“I am excited to welcome PointsBet to my home state,” said PointsBet brand ambassador Allen Iverson. “Speed and agility always defined my game, and that is exactly what puts PointsBet above the rest. Get into the game with more in-play and real-time options. Take control of your experience and join me on PointsBet to Live Your Bet Life.”

PointsBet New Customer Offer for Virginia

With the launch of PointsBet in the state, the sports betting outlet confirmed that it will provide a new player offer unique to Virginia customers.

This is a “Bet & Get” offer across five tiers. Throughout these tiers, new players will earn 10% of their cumulative wagers in free bets during December.

PointsBet lists the following examples:

  • $500 in cumulative wagers will earn a $50 free bet
  • $1,000 in cumulative wagers will earn a $100 free bet
  • $2,500 in cumulative wagers will earn a $250 free bet
  • $5,000 in cumulative wagers will earn a $500 free bet
  • $10,000 in cumulative wagers will earn a $1,000 free bet

As you ascend the tiers, you will receive the credit within 24 hours, PointsBet noted.

“Colonial Downs Group is proud to partner with PointsBet, a premier sports betting platform and one of the most successful operators in the nation,” Colonial Downs Group Chief Operating Officer Aaron Gomes said in the release. “We are pleased to help bring this gaming option to our loyal customers and other gamers in Virginia.”

PointsBet Partnerships Promote Virginia Betting

As mentioned, PointsBet did enter into a partnership with NBC Sports, which leverages plenty of professional franchises in/around the state, as the sportsbook has already been integrated into NBC Sports Regional Networks, such as NBC Sports Washington.

This means that the PointsBet brand will be seen by viewers of the Washington Football Team, Washington Wizards, and Washington Capitals.

This will be a boost for betting on the NFL, the NBA and the NHL.

Also part of that deal included NBC Sports providing PointsBet with “year-round, multi-platform media and marketing opportunities across its unmatched portfolio of events, including exclusive multi-platform gameday integrations across NBC Sports Regional Networks” while PointsBet’s Spanish-language functionality will “reach Hispanic sports fans via Telemundo Deportes and Telemundo broadcast stations.”

“Our partnership with NBC Sports has positioned us well as we enter the market,” said PointsBet USA CMO Kyle Christensen. “Viewers who have become familiar with the PointsBet brand through our odds integrations and expert analysis during television broadcasts can now truly experience what sets PointsBet apart.”
