6 SEC Football Best Bets to Consider Backing in Week 11

6 SEC Football Best Bets to Consider Backing in Week 11

This season’s Game of the Century has come and gone, leaving a trail of dashed dreams and empty liquor bottles from one side of the LSU campus to the other.

Both division titles have already been secured, the earliest that’s ever happened in the SEC. Is there anything left to play for besides the Old Beer Barrel and the Golden Boot?

Well, sort of. Alabama is still chasing a place in the College Football Playoff, although its homestretch doesn’t look quite as daunting as it once did. Georgia still has an outside shot at crashing the four-team title field.

Others are trying to improve their prospective bowl position, hoping to end up in Tampa or Orlando rather than Birmingham or Shreveport.

And for college football betting fans looking to wager, it’s another weekend of opportunity.

  1. LSU at Arkansas

The line: LSU -13.5 at 888Sport

Alabama made LSU seem like a Pop Warner outfit, dominating the Tigers behind a secondary that locked down on every target quarterback Joe Burrow looked for. All those three-and-outs wore down a typically strong LSU defense that was on the field far too long.

The good news: The Tigers get to rebound against Arkansas, whose defense ranks next to last in the SEC.

Yes, it’s kind of a rivalry game (for that aforementioned Golden Boot), and the Razorbacks had a week off while LSU got beaten up, but the Hogs have done nothing to show they can hang with this caliber of opponent. Bet LSU -13.5 with 888Sport.

  2. Auburn at Georgia

The line: Georgia -13.5 at 888Sport

The South’s longest-running rivalry is a tough one to figure, given the Jekyll-and-Hyde nature of an Auburn offense that’s shown some signs of life the past two weeks. Georgia has the league’s best rushing offense, one of the league’s best defenses, and all the tools to dominate time of possession.

But has Auburn been so disappointing this season, they’ll get blown out between the hedges? Maybe not. That line seems too large against an opponent that’s been competitive with other ranked teams this year.

    Take Auburn +13.5 with 888Sport.

  3. Ole Miss at Texas A&M

The line: O/U 67 at SugarHouse

Even when the Rebels lose, they’re fun to watch as they pile up points. But they’d need to average 70 to make up for a wretched defense that allowed South Carolina to rally from a 10-point deficit last week with remarkable ease.

Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu left that game with a foot injury, but reports indicate he’ll play this week at Texas A&M.

That line of Aggies -11.5 is tad foreboding; it’s easier to see Texas A&M rediscovering its offensive touch at home, and the Rebels going down in another shootout similar to the one they lost last week.

That’s why we’ll bet the over with SugarHouse.

  4. Alabama vs. Mississippi State

The line: Alabama -24 at 888Sport

The Bulldogs boast the best defense in the conference, allowing opponents an average of 12.3 points per game. Is that enough to slow the Crimson Tide? Come on, who are we kidding?

Maybe we’d think twice had Alabama not gone on the road last week and sliced through a defense almost as good as the one they’ll see Saturday.

Mississippi State has returned to its expected form after a rough patch, quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is the second-leading rusher in the SEC, and that Bulldogs defense hasn’t allowed more than 19 points in a single game since September.

But if ’Bama can go to LSU and win 29-0, you have to like them covering a 24-point line at home. Bet Alabama -24 with 888Sport.

  5. Tennessee vs. Kentucky

The line: Kentucky -6 at 888Sport

The Wildcats’ dream season is becoming endangered, because they’ve forgotten how to score. Even with the leading rusher in the SEC, tailback Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky hasn’t put up more than 17 points in a game since September.

Kentucky wasfortunate to steal one on the final play at Missouri thanks to a defensive penalty, and Georgia blew the Wildcats out last week.

Tennessee and Kentucky have the two worst scoring offenses in the league, but Vols quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has tossed seven TDs to zero interceptions over his last four games, and this looms as the kind of letdown trap a program like Kentucky typically falls for.

    Take Tennessee +6 with 888Sport.

  6. South Carolina at Florida

The line: Florida -6.5 at SugarHouse

The Gators’ five-game win streak has become a two-game skid, with Florida’s offense managing just 17 points in each loss. It’s one thing to get shut down by Georgia; but by Missouri, who’s allowed more points than any other SEC team save Arkansas and Ole Miss?

That’s a hopeful sign for the Gamecocks, whose defense hardly looked Swamp-ready in allowing 616 yards in Oxford. But South Carolina’s offense has clicked over the past two weeks, and if the Gamecocks can shore up some positions in a secondary depleted due to injuries, they should make this a game.

Bet South Carolina +6.5 with SugarHouse.
