Alabama vs LSU Betting Odds, Picks, Tips & SEC Best Bets

Quick Tips:

Are you ready? Can you feel it, the earth trembling all the way from Tiger Stadium?

It’s time for this season’s edition of the Game of the Century, a prime-time clash between Alabama and LSU that will have ramifications from the SEC West, to the College Football Playoff, to every beer cooler at every quick mart between Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge.

So, yeah, it’s kind of a big week. Not only do we have the Tigers against the Crimson Tide, but Georgia visits Kentucky in a championship game for the SEC East, and there are a handful of other intriguing conference matchups. And as a bonus, we don’t have to watch Arkansas.

To paraphrase the league’s slogan, everything seems to matter more with the finish line to the regular season now only a few weeks away.

So if you are a fan of college football betting, grab a handful of leftover Halloween candy — don’t deny it, we all know you kept the Skittles for yourself — and enjoy these six best bets in the SEC this week.

Alabama at LSU

The line: Alabama -14 at 888Sport

There’s no way to knock what the Crimson Tide have done this season, destroying opponents behind an offense averaging a nation-leading 54.1 points per game. But if you had to nit-pick, you could point at an Alabama schedule that hasn’t exactly been loaded.

The best team the Tide has played to this point is Texas A&M, and while they won that game by 22, it’s hard not to draw comparisons to Georgia — which looked bulletproof until it ventured into Death Valley.

Alabama’s offense is head and shoulders above LSU’s, but the Tigers have one of the stingiest scoring defense in the country, enough to keep the home team in the game. Take LSU +14 over Alabama with 888Sport.

Georgia at Kentucky

The line: Georgia -9.5 at 888Sport

The Kentucky Wildcats took Texas A&M to overtime despite running zero plays on the Aggies’ side of the field. They beat Vanderbilt with 18 passing yards. They edged Missouri with a final-play touchdown thanks to a defensive penalty that gave them an untimed down.

This is not sustainable, Kentucky.

The Wildcats are getting by despite an offense that’s sunk to 13th in the SEC, and won’t be able to keep it up this week against the best team on their schedule. Quarterback Terry Wilson rebounded last week with 267 passing yards, but against a terrible Missouri defense.

Georgia has the best pass defense in the SEC, and enough on both sides of the ball to turn this into a lopsided outcome. Back Georgia and give the 9.5 with 888Sport.

Missouri at Florida

The line: Florida -5.5 with SugarHouse

Just when you think the Gators have hit their offensive stride, they’re brought back to earth. The Georgia game was a step back for Florida, no doubt, but it won’t face a defense like that every week.

In fact, this week they get the polar opposite — Missouri, which ranks last in the SEC in pass defense and next to last in total defense. Florida has holes, and it’s becoming difficult to determine what they’ll get from quarterback Feleipe Franks from week to week.

But facing a bad defense helps make everything better, and it’s easy to see Florida winning by a touchdown or more in the Swamp. Take Florida -5.5 with SugarHouse.

South Carolina at Ole Miss

The line: Ole Miss -1 at SugarHouse

Speaking of bad defenses … Ole Miss has given up more points than anyone in the league save Arkansas, and doesn’t have a quality victory since stunning Texas Tech in the opener.

South Carolina is hardly an offensive juggernaut, but the Gamecocks rediscovered their running game last week in what might have been a season-saving victory over Tennessee, and quarterback Jake Bentley has the receivers to exploit weaknesses.

Unless the Gamecocks pull a no-show for an 11 a.m. local kickoff and let that Ole Miss offense run all over them, they’re more than capable of pulling the mild upset. Take South Carolina +1 with SugarHouse.

Texas A&M at Auburn

The line: Auburn -3.5 at 888Sport

Inconsistencies on offense have dogged Auburn all season, and Texas A&M has averaged only 21 points over its last five outings.

While neither of these teams is inspiring a whole lot of confidence right now, Auburn is one of those programs that struggles to shake dysfunction. And on the heels of a home loss to Tennessee, you wonder about the enthusiasm level in Jordan-Hare Stadium for an 11 a.m. local start.

Good enough reasons to take the Aggies to keep it close, at least. Take Texas A&M +3.5 with 888Sport.

Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State

The line: Mississippi State -22.5 at 888Sport

After a week of questions about offensive inconsistency and quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, Mississippi State turned in its most complete effort of the season last week against Texas A&M.

Fitzgerald cemented his stature as QB1 by accounting for four touchdowns and 329 total yards. Louisiana Tech comes to Starkville with the nation’s active sack leader in end Jaylon Ferguson, but not the high-powered offense typically associated with Skip Holtz teams.

Mississippi State continues its rebound with an eye toward Alabama next week. Take Mississippi State and give the points at 888Sport.
