Big 12 Football Betting Tips & Picks: Games to Bet Week 11

Quick Tips:

  • Bet Oklahoma State +17 over Oklahoma with 888Sport.
  • Bet Baylor +14.5 over Iowa State with SugarHouse.
  • Bet Texas Tech -1 over Texas with 888Sport.

Three games of note in the Big 12 this weekend, all of which will go a long way to help sorting the two teams that will advance to the conference title with only three weekends remaining in the regular season.

Here are the games that fans of college football betting should be paying most attention too.

Oklahoma State at No. 7 Oklahoma

A rivalry featuring a pair of prolific offenses along with two defenses that concede a lot of points has all the makings for an entertaining Saturday with the possibility of an upset.

If Oklahoma State is to win its first Bedlam game since 2014, the Cowboys absolutely must cut down on penalties, something that’s plagued them for much of the season.

OSU has been penalized 68 times, the ninth-most in country, and the issue was especially prevalent in a 35-31 loss at Baylor last week. The Cowboys amassed 12 penalties for 133 yards, including three in the fourth quarter that contributed to the Bears being able to erase a 12-point deficit.

Against a Sooners offense that doesn’t need any help moving the ball due its effectiveness both passing and rushing, the Cowboys cannot afford to give the Sooners any additional yardage or plays. Oklahoma scores the third-most points in the nation (48.9).

OSU has twice toppled ranked foes this season (Texas and Boise State) and possesses the type offense to give the Sooners fits. Although Oklahoma’s defense has improved in recent weeks with a change in defensive coordinators, it still has struggled against high-powered aerial attacks and susceptible to giving up big plays.

The Cowboys are going to score, the only question is whether they can keep pace with the Sooners? Here’s betting they at least keep it close. Bet OSU +17 with 888Sport.

Baylor at No. 24 Iowa State

A week after upsetting Oklahoma State at home, Baylor heads on the road to take on a streaking Iowa State team that has won four consecutive games and emerged as one of the toughest opponents in the Big 12.

Baylor is good enough to spring a second straight upset, but will be challenged against an ISU defense regarded as the best in the conference. The Cyclones lead the Big 12 in both total defense and scoring defense, and should be able to contain a Baylor offense that has had success throwing the ball but been inconsistent on the ground.

ISU running back David Montgomery continues to be focal point of the Cyclones offense, with the junior having rushed for the fourth-most yards and accumulated the fifth-most total yards from scrimmage in the conference.

In addition to Montgomery, freshman quarterback Brock Purdy continues to emerge and has shown he can make plays with both his arm and legs. The Cyclones have not lost since he took over as starting quarterback.

Whether Baylor can acclimate to the conditions is another factor to watch for. The forecast in Ames, Iowa, calls for temperature to be in the mid-30s. ISU is the pick to win but not cover. Take Baylor +14.5 with SugarHouse.

No. 17 Texas at Texas Tech

Any discussion on whether Texas was “back” has quieted in the wake of a two-game losing streak that saw the Longhorns drop close contests to West Virginia and Oklahoma State by a combined four points.

Now Texas heads on the road to face a Texas Tech team with the exact kind of offense that has flummoxed the Longhorns this season, creating a distinct possibility that their winless streak extends to three games.

Adding to Texas’ woes, three starters on defense are injured and questionable for Saturday night’s tilt against the Red Raiders, who are also on a two-game losing skid. That Longhorns defense struggled mightily versus West Virginia, giving up 578 total yards.

A similar lack of productivity by Texas on the defensive side of the back will likely spell trouble versus a Red Raiders offense ranked second nationally in passing yards per game, third in total passing yards, and ninth in scoring per game.

But Texas Tech is dealing with injuries of its own and is likely without starting quarterback Alan Bowman, who suffered a “reoccurrence of a partially collapsed lung” during the Red Raiders 51-46 loss to Oklahoma.

Regardless of who is playing quarterback, Texas Tech is still a dangerous team. This puts the onus on the Longhorns offense to take advantage of a Red Raiders defense that is also leaky, allowing the most passing yards per game in the Big 12 by a wide margin.

Take Texas Tech -1 with 888Sport.
